I'm just so curious how she will sing this song. And Laurence, it is a cover of an old jazz song originally done by Chet Baker, but Miles Davis also did it and Ella Fitzgerald and if you've seen The Talented Mr. Ripley, Matt Damon sings it there too. On Napster there are some versions circling around. And I see here that Elvis Costello did it and Sarah Vaughan and Sinatra..hehe. So Sheryl wasn't the first..hehe. Pretty good. My funny valentine sweet comic valentine you make me smile with my heart your looks are laughable unphotographable yet you're my favourite work of art is your figure less then breath (??) is your mouth full little weed (??) when you open it to speak are you smile but don't change a hair for me not if you care for me stay little valentine staaaaay each day is valentine's daaaaay - ---- I like Matt Damon's version the most, cause it has this funky trumpet intro. I cherish a big love for brass, thanks to my grandpa, cause he always played loud jazz and big band in the house :-) . That's why I like There Goes The Neighboorhood so much, cause in the middle this funky swingin' sax comes out. He mentioned more than once that she had been working with this guy named Tim. I'm not sure if i know who that is, but he also mentioned that she was currently at work on her new album. I figure everyone already knew that. Just thought i'd share my story. BTW, Shelby Lynne is absolutely amazing in concert and since she only plays (extremely) small venues, her concerts are really intimate. If any of you guys haven't already, I strongly suggest you check her out. Her latest cd I AM SHELBY LYNNE is one of the best cds I've heard in a really long time. I've had the cd in my changer since the day I bought it and I cannot listen to it enough. It has Sheryl-esque elements, esp. the song "Life is Bad", but it also brings to mind Aretha Franklin, John Lennon and Dusty Springfield. Not since Patty Griffin's cd Flam ing Red has a non-Sheryl cd captivated me so much. LeeAnne ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Jul 2000 11:18:05 MDT From: "Makinzy H." Life has been pretty crazy for me lately. I saw Sheryl on David Letterman the other night and noticed the hair is kinda getting back to the style it was before. I have to admit I haven't liked her hair too much before now...not that hair is a topic I usually wish to discuss--Sheryl's music is what I like to talk about most. Anyway, I am sure some of ya'll know what song that was she sang and what cd it is on so...could you tell me? I would like to get it. Oh, one more thing. I am looking for an apartment in New York since I will be starting my second year of grad school in September and won't be going through NYU housing this time. If anyone has any friends looking for a roommate or if anyone has any helpful advice on how to go about getting an apartment please pass it on. Thanks!
