Now, what we want to do is tell Gregg never EVER to give out his Napster ID as the '57, instead of the 1957, cause that's the evil doer who's got the Yanni. Heaven knows we don't want another mixup like that. As for "Wheels On Fire" I was kidding, but I wouldn't mind a version for her (ever see the episode where it's Edina's b-day, and she sings "Satisfaction" and "Wheels on Fire" on her karaoke machine? I love that one!). But for now, I will settle for my only copy of the song, which is on a Siouxie and the Banshee's greatest hits cd... okay, that should deserve a bit of equal mocking. Several responses were from people who are songwriters' themselves, and they shed interesting light on the subject. My reflections? Maybe good song writing revolves around being able to remove yourself from your own existence and to place yourself into another plane of being long enough to capture the emotion of the moment. I've noticed that Sheryl paints a song like a canvas sometimes, taking bits and pieces from her experiences and from those around her and fitting them together in an artistic fashion. "Hard to Make a Stand" is a good example. I read an interview with her that shed some light on the lyrics to the song. Something to the effect that a transvestite named "Miscreation" hung out at a bar near the recording studio. When kicked out of the establishment, he/she left a note under the door that said " If I'm not here then you're not here ". Various other bits and pieces of the song came from personal encounters and friends experiences. Does anyone know what contribution Jeff Trott makes when writing with Sheryl? Does one write lyrics and the other the tune? Chin up Crew, a new album looms on the horizon! Richard Boyd PS -Yes , I would buy a copy of Sheryl Crow singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I'd bet it would kick ass. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jun 2000 23:16:13 +0200 From: Brigitte and/or Michael Subject: [sheryl-crew] My guitar Ok, just to keep you all up to date. Finally bought a new guitar today (thanks again for all your advice). It's a Sigma-Martin DR35 acoustic steel string. Sounds beautiful, plays amazing, I'm totally in love with it! When was this? It sounds like a live song.
