Also, about HAIR, I thought Sheryl's bedead was CUTE but I wonder why since her hair has been short (thank god it is growing!) whyshe immediately comes out on stage with it looking all sweaty and unbrushed (severe bedhead) and that this bedhead occurrance doesn't happen as with all of us after we have been preforming for a while on the stage with the hot lights and all?? I mean since her hair cut she appears not to care it is all sweaty and yuky before she has even come on to perform. With her long hair when she first came out at least it was brushed and clean but anymore lately it is totally dirty as soon as she comes out and it leaves me feeling a little disappointed that she doesn't like us and doesn't at all care what the audiences feel. I work for them out of Richmond , VA as a local promotional retail /tour marketing rep. This is one means of my promotion and although some of the information is limited to local spots, etc. . . for the most part it just contains some cool links and info about artists that I work with who have also been mentioned on this list from time to time (Beth Hart , Latin Playboys, Jewel, Matchbox 20, Kid Rock, Stone Temple Pilots etc. . . ) There are always cool giveaways for promo items and what not and the competition is not all that stiff. So, check it out and have fun . It's nothing fancy , but it gets the point across . It's funny, I've been thinking a lot about that exact same thing lately. I'm a bit of an amateur songwriter myself, and just the other day I debuted a new song for my friends/family, and the reaction was almost universally the same -- that's such a great song, by why is everything you write so sad/depressing? And it got me to thinking, and looking back at what I've written, and it seems like my best stuff is always the depressing stuff, its got so much more feeling to it -- both lyrically and musically -- and the "happy" songs are the ones that are either perpetually unfinished or just plain lame. I've been trying to write a "happy' song just to prove I can, but the creative process just demands that if its going to be any good, you better write what it tells you to, what's in there trying to get out, not what you "think" other people want to hear. Now, maybe I'm just a depressed person, but when I listen to other people's stuff, I kind of see the same trend. Songs that come from worse feelings just seem to have more power and emotion than songs about happy fun stuff. Perhaps the all-time classic example is the whole Pink Floyd album "The Wall." What a horribly depressing but amazingly powerful piece of art. And I think no matter how basically happy you are, there are still always those emotions lurking somewhere, and if you have the ability and self-confidence to tap them and share them with the world, they're going to show through in your best work. anyway, that's my 2 cents. Well, I don't really think she does her hair that way because she doesn't care about us. I think it looks good, and it is probably a lot easier for her to do it like that. And it shouldn't really matter what she looks like when she performs. She puts on a hell of a show and I think that is what matters most. Subject: RE:[sheryl-crew] Tortured Souls One time I wrote a song, and it ended up being really "deep" and when I played it for people I knew really well, they looked at me funny and asked me what is was about, and why it was so depressing. But when I played it for other people that didn't know me as well, they really liked it. It's hard to write a so called "happy" song. I think people relate to the depressing one's more. The other day I played "The Book" in front of this one lady, cause she asked me too, and she said "That's one thing about Sheryl Crow- very deep lyrics". I guess that is where I get off writing like that?? I don't mean to write like that, it's just the way it comes out, and I think that is one of the best ways of writing a song. When you try to make it so that other people will like it (like a happy song) it ends up being stupid and making it so that your not expressing yourself as much. Just because her hair might get a little messy on stage doesn't mean it's dirty or anything. Sheryl's hair isn't that short right now so I don't really know what you mean.
