Very good and thorough advice. I myself am in the market for a new bass right now. Bridgette, I'll just say I have a Washburn acoustic/electric that I am extremely happy with. I recommend you give a Washburn a shot. In terms of making a beginner sound good, at a reasonable price, Yamaha's are probably the easiest guitars to play, but as you get better you'll soon want to move up. But like Matt said, play a lot of different ones, and go with what feels right to you. If you have to, scrape together those few extra pennies to get the one you want, rather than the one you can afford, and you'll be happier for it in the long run. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2000 23:26:45 +0200 From: Brigitte and/or Michael Subject: [sheryl-crew] Guitar lesson Thanks for the people who gave me some guitar advice. I'm taking my guitarteacher with me, he has been playing that long he doesn't know exactly how long anymore, I think over 25 years. And this is a really cool guitarteacher...let me tell you why. I came to class tonight and when we all came in and packed our guitars out, he sat down and played the intro of a very familiair song...Strong Enough. I immidiately turn around off course: 'Hey that's Sheryl Crow!" He told us that it wasn't such a hard song to play and it was a nice song. Next thing he puts on the tapeplayer...and there she is Sheryl doing the acoustic version of Strong Enough. He played along on his Yamaha steelstring... great sound. Really, really great... That same day I coincidently rented the TNMC songbook in the library and tried out Strong Enough, but thought it was way too hard for me to play. But my teacher had it described down real easy. He made a copy of the sheet for me... I just can't wait to try it out. Well anyway, this was just what I wanted to share. I liked Washburn too - almost bought one. I love looking/browsing at guitars - the whole scene, sound, smell, and feel of a nice one. Of course, what we all want is the Sheryl Crow Signature Limited Edition guitar by Gibson which is a copy of Sheryl's '62 Country Western - its *only* around $1900. It probably will be worth even more years from now. Anyone actually see it and play it? CSmith@snl.com wrote: > > Matt, that was an excellent discourse on buying a guitar. If you need help figuring out some Sheryl songs I'll be happy to give you some short cuts and loops when playing them. Most of her songs have a very basic underlying with lots of fills over them. when people tab them out, they put all the fills in it and confuse people with the basics. Thats why I perfer playing be ear. But If you want any help at all guitar is my language and I love to talk it. Subject: [sheryl-crew] Globe Sessions Screen Saver mis-wording This is kinda strange...I was sitting here watching my Sheryl Globe Sessions screen saver and noticed that the lyrics that come up on the screen are of "Home" and are mis-worded. One of them is "I'm going crazy a little at a time.." and "I woke this morning to the sound of beating hearts..." I didn't read them all so there could be more, but I thought that was interesting..... ;0) Sheryl Crow ROXXXX!!!!! Brooke " I swear they're out there..."
