Greetings again crew.. :-) Now I wish I never mentioned what I said.. but I suppose I assumed that we were all adults on here.. (apparently not).. Well, one other thing I wanted to mention anyways.. all this stuff about "social/reputational degradation" with cannabis.. True, when we're dealing with a certain population out there raised within such propaganda or people who've decided otherwise about such past-times (and I DO respect them - they are people :-)). But, as an example, do we ever hear as much fuss with alcohol? My point being: society is already familiar with social problems potential with alcohol, but because alcohol didn't go through such propaganda, no-one these days will mind if someone cracks a joke about having a drink. That's because society had matured in some way (hopefully), learning and realizing truths about alcohol, and thus these days people are aware of it and drink to moderation. So regardless of whether one has been raised through the propaganda or who has ignored it and decided themselves sensibly, a joke relating to smoking dope wouldn't go down so well as most people will these days still regard cannabis as not socially acceptable. Hmm... Therefore I now wish to take back what I said in the very beginning! Let's not turn the topic into a debate with more opinions pouring in, as I really didn't take into consideration in my original message that the mailing list members would be such a variable population (meaning, inlcuding the younger 'uneducated'). Oh well, one day the human race will use their heads.. and maybe even stop blowing each other up! Hehe peace.... oh yeah, and lots and lots of love :P P.S. To all critics - regular smokers won't necessarily have bloodshot eyes or appear dopey-eyed, or even talk like they're under the influence, yet can continue doing things as normal... My point being, this is nowhere near as bad as a regular drinker.. (alcohol again as an example, but we tend to ignore this since we know that we have to CONTROL alcohol consumption and we know what alcohol does to you through awareness) Phew! Sorry for the essay writing.. :P~ - -charlie ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2000 00:23:59 EDT From: ImSlug@aol.com Subject: [sheryl-crew] owen and yearbook Wow, I just saw Shanghai-Noon or whatever it's called . . .that was so cute!!!! I also saw the Minus Man and I definitely found Owen Wilson a lot more appealing in his latest role. Anyway, I found Sheryl Crow mentioned in the randomest place the other day - the back of my yearbook! There's a Josten's insert in the back about 10 pages long in color on the "year in review" and Sheryl is mentioned on the music page. She is mentioned for being part of the first ever triumulcast on a website, tv, and radio for her Central Park concert. She is also mentioned in a part about singers being part of video games for her song on the James Bond game. It was funny to see her name surrounded by Britney Spears, 'N Sync, and Backstreet Boys! It was that damn straightedge movement? (sXe) What did we learn from that? Well apparently not much. But what you were supposed to learn from that was no one appreciates you imposing your personal beliefs upon them, and furthermore making judgements. (Especially if your beliefs are one sided or arrogant.) So lets all be good little non imposing Sheryl Fans and drop it already. Furthermore what does "younger" have to do with 'uneducated'? I resent that implication, and the 'I assumed that we were all adults on here (apparently not)' remark. I'm young sure, but that has nothing to do with my education, wisdom, or maturity. How about we all put a little more thought into our posts instead of blundering through huge posts that ultimately waste reader's time and then failing miserably to make up for them with future posts. If you are going to ramble on at least try not to make up for your past close minded digressions with further even more dubious and antagonistic stupidities.
