Eventually she "perked up" and looked fine. It could have been alcohol, could have been pot, could have just been my imagination. It bothered me at first (not because I'm anti-drug or alcohol- in fact, I believe in legalization of drugs) I guess because I think I was empathizing with her and not wanting her to feel like she had to imbibe in order to appear before the audience - though, that's me probably projecting my feelings onto her. I also didn't want her to do anything that would potentially harm herself. I guess you can look "happy stoned" or "out of it stoned" and she looked the latter - so I was a little shocked and upset. Luckily by the end of the show she was fine (and so was I). - -Larr _____________________________________________ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Click here for FREE Internet Access and Email http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Jun 2000 09:31:46 EDT From: RIVDOG@aol.com Subject: [sheryl-crew] Re: sheryl-crew-digest V3 #157 In a message dated 06/02/2000 3:24:04 AM Eastern Daylight Time, owner-sheryl-crew-digest@smoe.org writes: << heya....i dont mean to sound like im contradicting you or anything like that but its been scientifically proven that marijuana is NOT addictive physically. As for sheryl smoking, i'm sure she's done it a few times. C'mon who of us hasnt?? haha ok im kidding but still...i'm not going to lie. ITS FUN! She is either a total stoner, I've decided, or is just always dog tired/jet lagged etc. Or just can't be arsed to appear interested in half her shows since, after this much time, she must sooo be on auto-pilot, I mean, who wouldn't be? - --- Larry Blumenthal wrote: > When I saw Sheryl at the 9:30 Club here in > Washington DC a couple years ago, > I thought she looked stoned when she first came out > - for about the first 40 > minutes or so. I really actually see her quite the opposite, every SC show that I've been to she has been totally energetic and into it, I mean people have their off days. I know that she wasn't stoned after the concert I was at last May cause I met her and I think we would have been able to tell..So if she does do it I don't think she does it all the time. Of course if she lit one up on the tour bus after, who cares? If it's after the show and in her privacy then that's fine. But if I knew she was high while she was performing I would be mad, because then she's not respecting the people who paid good money to see her perform and they reasonably have a right to expect her to perform the best she can..which would be with a clear mind. Anyway I feel weird talking about this cause I always wonder what she would say if she saw us commenting on her supposed habits, when all we do is speculate on what we think she's like..I just don't think she'd like to hear her fans label her as a stoner, since none of us know her or what she does or doesn't do on a daily basis. It sort of seems like trying to label her, and I don't think that's fair. - ------------------------- Sheryl Crow : If It Makes You Happy Join Care2.com's Race for the Rain Forest! I lost 9 months, in addition to the amount of time with no memory (it goes completely after a few months of constant heavy consumption) , due to that being the reason for starting to drink so much in the first place. It's hell, it doesn't solve anything, the problem/s is/are still there for the few minutes when you're actually sober! I didn't drink before, and I certainly don't now!!!! As with all things, moderation and control can "enhance" a good time and is harmless, weed should be made legal, but caution is required. I never, ever want to go back there again. Sorry to ramble but I'm not proud of that period, and just wanted to warn anyone tempted to follow the same path!!...It goes straight to hell!
