Anyways, I've recently started working at a WalMart out where I live. Well...today I work I'm stocking shelves when all of a sudden I hear 'Cant Cry Anymore' start to play. I didn't give it a second thought, I was just happy a song I actually liked was playing rather than the Backstreet Boys, N'SYNC, Britney Spears crap that usually is. It was after another associate asked me who was singing "that really cool song" (as she put it), I said without a second to spare "Sheryl Crow..."..then it hit me. -WHY- was a place that wont sell her albums playing her in the store? I didn't get my answer...and i'm like flaming curious. Is this not hypoc ricy? They will not sell her albums, but they will play her music?...Has anyone else ever had any similar experience? - -Sheryl - -----~Though dreams can be deceiving, like faces are to hearts, they serve for sweet relieving, when fantasy and reality lie to far apart~----- - --*--Fiona Apple--*-- ______________________________________________________ Sent by FortuneCity Mail at http://www.fortunecity.com Join now and receive 20Mb of free web space and E-mail ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 May 2000 22:05:49 PDT From: "innocent denial" Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Blatant Hypocricy I thought they only wouldnt sell her self titled album. - -katie From: "Sher Bear" To: sheryl-crew@smoe.org Subject: [sheryl-crew] Blatant Hypocricy Date: Tue, 23 May 2000 21:58:35 -0800 As avid Sheryl fans, I'm sure the majority of you know that WalMart wont sell her albums because of the line "Watch out sister, watch out brother...watch out while they kill each other...with a gun they bought at a WalMart Discount Store" (I APOlOGIZE! if I messed up those lyrics...it's late and i'm sick an all drugged up...so not thinking straight). I don't think they could ban her forever without risking a lawsuit from the record label. Plus if it's gonna make them $$ from it, they're gonna sell it. I'm pretty sure I heard them playing Home in there once before (I've only been to Walmart maybe 5x total since they banned her cd, and it was all because I was with other people who needed to get something from there. But hearing a Sheryl song out of a 1 in 5 chance, who knows maybe they play her all the time. :) Also it was kind of funny the last time I was there they had the Guitar World Accoustic with Sheryl on the cover on display. - ---------------------------------------------------- Sheryl Crow : If It Makes You Happy Join Care2.com's Race for the Rain Forest!
