The "example" you gave was not only rude and unfair to the author, who was Sheryl-related throughout her post, but also shows that you have no place here if that's the kind of thing that irks you. Your reply was an example of what I don't want in my mailbox. They are a little off I think. She covered Bob Dylan? Which song? I think they mean Mississippi but that's not a cover. Brigitte - ----------- From CDNOW: Sheryl Crow won't play her greatest hits, and more power to her. Her sense of integrity is as absolute as her commitment to providing that rare moment in rock and roll: the concert as heartfelt personal expression and kick-ass commercial entertainment. There's no "Leaving Las Vegas," and the only time in this lengthy set that Crow seems less than inspired is during "All I Wanna Do." Given that she's probably played that song from Tuesday Night Music Club a thousand times, it's a wonder she can get through it at all. It's a further mark of her dedication to following her own creative impulses that she covers only one other songwriter in this show, and that's Bob Dylan. The togetherness of her band, and its advanced chops, makes her own songwriting even more impressive. At about the three-quarter mark, it might dawn on you how sophisticated her songs are, and how difficult they might be to play. The band seems relaxed, deeply at home with the music, well-rehearsed and yet still spontaneous. They can flat-out play. The direction is straightforward and unobtrusive. It seems less together in the first couple numbers, but picks up on Crow's rhythms by the third song. Recorded live in front of thousands at Detroit's Globe, the band's sound adjusts to suit each song. At times it evokes Tom Petty, at others it updates The Band. Crow also does a couple of solo acoustic numbers. The sound mix is a little muddy for the first three songs, but also improves. By the fourth song every instrument is crystal clear. The enthusiastic audience is placed in the rear speakers and the band spreads across the fairly large stage with accurate spatial perspective. It's a great show, well presented and more than an hour long. No matter what's happening with the music, the visual interest stays high. Crow has a movie-star beauty and a strong, sexy sense of herself. She seems vulnerable yet tough, and plays the hell out of that bass. -- David N.
