Good movie, a little slow for my taste at points, and also a little cliched, but worth it. Not only are the 2 Sheryl Crow songs in the movie, but there are NO other songs featured in the movie. (I mean, there's a score to the movie but no other songs are played prominently like those 2). "Redemption Day" especially fits in with the theme of the movie and the plot at that particular point. - -Larr _____________________________________________ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Click here for FREE Internet Access and Email http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2000 08:24:19 -0400 (EDT) From: zcarvajal@webtv.net (Zoe Carvajal) Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Sheryl crew ) A big thank you and a little observation - --WebTV-Mail-46-4491 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit The e-mail below is a good example of why I'm cancelling my subscription to the list. If you forget, just email me privately. I'd be happy to help . . . unless you're rude. Then you're on your own, buddy. And in case you're not aware, I do offer a NEWS ONLY Sheryl Crow list (it works like a weekly e-newsletter with things I gather from the Crew, the forum, and the net in general - all SC-related and newsworthy) which is 100% moderated by me (I'm the only one that can post to the list), but it's currently not in full function since there really isn't very much SC news going around. But I expect it will be buzzing in a few months as we start receiving news about Sheryl's new album, tour, hair style (kidding), etc. You can visit my site, http://www-scf.usc.edu/~cmejia, jump down to the "Mailing Lists" section and follow the Sheryl Crow Weekly News Mailing List link to subscribe or get more info about it. Like I said, I'm currently not sending it out weekly, just whenever there's a big news story. My website, however, is updated regularly and is a good source for all current news, as well as other fun things. So stop your whining! And I say that with motherly love . . . I don't know what rate I would give. There's only the concert (or at least part of the actual concert) on the video, it would have been neat to add an interview or some backstage stuff on it while you mention it. Hey Crew, I just got back from the 2nd Annual Los Angeles benefit for Project ALS at the Hollywood Palladium tonight and saw Sheryl perform. In case you remember reading the press release about it last week, it's true, tickets were $500 and $1000 each to attend, and no, I didn't pay that. The company that I intern for had purchased a $10,000 table for the event, and somehow I got to go. Well here's what I just wrote about the show on the SC Fan Forum (sorry about the who she was with/what she wore stuff for those "who cares, it's all about the music" folks out there): So I'm back from the ALS benefit earlier this evening. Man, was it cool. I won't tell you about all the fab celebs that I ran into (literally) and how I sat at a table with someone who used to work at BMI in Nashville with Sheryl's sister, plus all the good food and other goodies. Sheryl's what you wanna hear about! So here's a rundown: Who she was with . . . Ok, no sign of Owen (Wilson), but strangely, she was with the ''friend'' from that photo of Sheryl in the April issue of InStyle (at the Grammy party, the caption reads ''Winner Sheryl Crow & Friend''). Anyone know who this mysterious new woman in Sheryl's life is? I don't want to get any rumors started but . . . Anyway, Sheryl performed at the very end of the evening - people were actually walking out during her performance, it sucked! What she wore: a black leather tank top and a black skirt, high heels; the hair was curly, above the shoulders still. She said that they made her promise to wear a dress but she told them that they had to promise to have pyrotechnics and dancing monkees onstage with her. What she played: she said that they told her she could only do 2 songs, so she decided to limit it to 4! First she did A Change with Tim Smith, both on acoustic guitars. Then, she did a NEW song!!! Well, she said she had written it with Stevie Nicks, so I don't know if that means it'll turn up on Stevie's or Sheryl's album, but it was so beautiful! Again, it was just her and Tim on acoustics, and she needed to read the lyrics while she performed the song. So she said she wanted George Clooney to hold them up for her, and then she said ''just kidding.'' Well someone found a sheet stand for her and put it in front of her, so she said ''look, they found me a stand. damn!'' She started playing the song and then you hear George Clooney running up to the stage yelling ''wait!'' and she and everyone else started cracking up. So he actually picked up the lyric sheets and held them for Sheryl during the entire song. George of course kept messing with Sheryl, pulling them away and turning them upside down, so Sheryl said ''look at that, he's already fucking with me.'' Well she got through the song, they hugged, and then some of the guys from the house band came out and played Everyday Is A Winding Road with Sheryl and Tim. And they ended it with My Favorite Mistake. It was very very cool. I took a couple of pictures (including one or two of her with George Clooney), but they're the first ones in the roll, and I'm not much of a picture taker, so it may be a while before I get them developed, but if they come out okay, I'll let you guys know and post them on my site. That's pretty much it I guess. I didn't get a chance to talk to Sheryl obviously, otherwise I would have mentioned it, but it was great seeing her, and hearing that new song especially! I wish I had snuck in a tape recorder! Oh well. Lisa ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V3 #101 *********************************
