If people, as you say, join this list to get news (and news alone) Ms Crow, then there are _other_ avenues that are strictly newsfeeds. I'd wager that more people join sheryl-crew in order to discuss not only Ms Crow and her music, but other things--they're here for the community of being with other fans of Sheryl Crow, and to be _friendly_. 1. I don't care how many "you go, boy!" messages you get. It's absolutely irrelevant unless it's part of a total membership poll. 2. Actually, I thought your rejoinder was rather rude. My take on the tone of Ms Gatling's postings implies a certain gentility of nature (certainly more than me, for sure), and if _I_ think it's a nasty reply, well, I daresay the target of it would think so even more. You'll have to be careful to express yourself more carefully in the future if indeed you meant no true rude behavior. 3. I'm sorry I'm having to write this on a Saturday morning--but I think it's a necessary action. 4. As Bester might once have said, (with apologies to JMS), "That is physically impossible, Mr Stell"--and I might add, totally uncalled for. Even if this list is just a collection of "13 year old teenage sheryl worshipping teenyboppers", well, that's fine as well. It's not your list, is it? Consider this: These "teenyboppers" have at least one good album in their collection---and that ties them to people like me, who stake out the record store on release dates--which makes them just as welcome as the next Jason Rhoden. [2] Point of all this being that in my opinion, sheryl-crew long ago became something more than just a mailing list, wherein faceless e-mail accounts spew out "Crow MSG 10/23/00 tix $25 stop", but rather a collection of Sheryl Crow fans, whom by sharing things (whether every single person likes it or not) about themselves, and other little things, wherein characteristics and idiosyncracies of the poster begin to form a face with a name. In my view, a community is much more interesting than just a list. It's not like there's a lot to talk about WRT a new album or something. Bottom line: Perhaps we should own up to it, like fumbling-towards-ecstasy, and admit to having a lot of what FTE calls "Bullshit Threads", and enjoy it. Perhaps a system of header acronyms ought to be instituted, like FTE. They're one helluva place to emulate. Between FTE & support-system, a Liz Phair list, I've managed to pick up a lot of new artists from which I've gleaned a great deal of enjoyment--but I never would have gotten that from your Sheryl Crow newsfeed. You totally planned to be offensive; your 'flame me' remark illustrates that you're not interested in constructive criticism. And no, you shouldn't have been in high school debate. Evisceration hurts, Mr Stell. Michael Worrell, who should have known a Gordon fan would be an ignorant buffoon. "It's just a three minute song; it doesn't last very long. But it'll take you down to a place I know you'd rather be."--Cerys Matthews [1] I've never had an opportunity to use that lyric before, but it'll probably be the last, since I despise that song. Just on the strength of that alone, I felt like throwing my TGS CD out the window. It certainly cooled my ardor for the artist, along with other revelations about her political leanings and support for a nameless individual. Funny that one carpetbagger to New York is supported by another carpetbagger to New York. [2] Incidentally, Mr Rhoden, are you still alive and kicking? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Apr 2000 08:24:53 -0700 (PDT) From: Anne Etienne <_anne_19_@yahoo.com> Subject: [sheryl-crew] LET'S MOVE ON!!! Hey Crew, I really appreciate this list, and just to give my opinion about that, I don't care about OFF topics, most of the time I don't even read them. So, for those who can't stand OFF topics messages, just erase them before actually reading them. Is it hard to do? Otherwise, I agree this list should rather been seen as a community rather than just a plian list with nothing to it... Since there's not a lot of Sheryl related news at the moment, we actually get to know one another better, and that's cool, that's what make us "unique" Well, a lot of rambling (as always), but as you seen in the subject line, I initially wrote that e-mail to say that it was time for us all to move on and stop talking about that guy, Bob Stell?, and keep on talking about whatever goes through our heads... It would be a shame the list ends just because of some piised off guy... That's all for today Enjoy your week-end Anne __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It came out in January, at least here in the US. It's a live concert from Detroit, Michigan. I thought it was pretty good. Especially "Home" on the piano. They only gave it 2/5? How rude! lol The set list includes: Maybe That's Something, A Change, ABD, MFM, It Don't Hurt, Riverwide, If It Makes You Happy, AIGT, EDIWR, The Difficult Kind, All I Wanna Do, TGTN, Strong Enough, Mississippi and Home. :) Kate ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 08 Apr 2000 23:25:32 +0200 From: Brigitte and/or Michael Subject: [sheryl-crew] wow Lol, a few digests ago, everyone was saying how great this list was and how glad they were to be on it (freely rephrased) and now we are all falling over one guy. It's called www.paypal.com and I've seen it around allot on ebay. I bought a couple of Sheryl posters for $15 and used paypal to send the money. Considering that that avergae person dosent accept credit cards its probably the quickest way to send money online. Check it out if you get the chance. - -Jonathan PS: And NO even though I signed up this is NOT an advertisement. It has simply been a very useful service. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Saturday, April 08, 2000 12:26 PM Subject: [sheryl-crew] Quick Question > OK, with all this weird nonsense going on, I am going to change the subject > and ask a quick question. > Question: Does anyone know where I can get some of her unreleased albums?
