Now I must also disagree with this, but politely, of course. Speaking as a former piano player (lessons for 11 years and played for about 14 years) I believe that you are either BORN with the talent to be a musician OR you have to work REALLY HARD at it. All musicians who've made it probably suffer through lots of hard work and dedication either way. My ex, Joe, had perfect pitch, and could sit down at the piano and play a song (through to the end) that he only heard on the radio 2 or 3 times. I don't think he ever took a lesson in his life. He could play a song and then change keys on it. He was born with some kind of natural talent. Meanwhile I struggled with lessons and practicing to be mediocre (that's why I quit-- plus I didn't enjoy it). I once tried to play "Let It Be" after listening to it on CD -- I mean, it's easy and in the key of C for God's sake -- and I couldn't do it! - -Larr __________________________________________ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Get your FREE Internet Access and Email at http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Mar 2000 09:24:19 -0800 (PST) From: Matt Stout Subject: [sheryl-crew] Barnstable Brown My local news here in Louisville, KY, home of the Kentucky Derby has just announced that Sheryl will be performing at the celebrity only Barnstable Brown Party along with the Backstreet Boys, Emmylou Harris and quite a few others. I'm an old softie about that. I think love is the most important thing in life." maybe why we all feel like we're Sheryl's friends, even though she doesn't know us (well most of us), I'm sure she gives off vibes similar to that quote that we pick up on. Just a thought! Dave ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Mar 2000 11:05:04 PST From: "innocent denial" Subject: [sheryl-crew] sacrilige is right! Sheryl and the backdoor boys on the same bill? I agree with you. Sacrilige. Perhaps they are just waiting tables or something? Yeah yeah, thats it! And then when sheryl gets thirsty from all that singing, they run back to the kitchen as fast as they can go without their pants falling off to get her a little dixie cup. (idiots...sheryl got past the dixie cup phase at 5 like the rest of us) Or perhaps they're stage hands? I hope sheryl doesnt let them touch any of her instruments...They've never touched an acutal guitar, and wouldnt know what to do with it. STOP CHEWING ON THAT!! GO EAT SOME COCKTAIL WHEENIES!! UGH!! LOL. I can hear it now. Ok well now that I'm done doging on the backsteet "boys" I'll leave you with this. She called "All I Wanna Do" her throwaway track from her first album. If I were to pick a throwaway track from that album it would be "The Na-Na Song". AIWD like a song with more significance to it than TNNS. Is TNNS actually supposed to have some kind of real meaning (maybe I'm just dense)? I've never heard her comment about it and would be curious if she really rates it as more important than AIWD. I'm a relatively recent convert, so some of you may have some info you can fill me in on. My name is Elisabeth and I too am new to this list...I've loved Sheryl since I heard AIWD! Right now my song of choice is TDK! I love this in all of its forms. I'm a big Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks fan as well, and the connection with Stevie made me like SC all the more! I love to collect live performances from both artists and I just got the Woodstock recording as well as her "cover" songs CD. What can I say...I'm hooked!!! From all of the posts I've read, I agree this is a friendly place to be, share ideas, chat, etc. I'm from Arkansas, and the idea of getting together sounds fun!!! I wish it would happen-that would be too cool...:) Well, that's all for now-hope to talk to ya'll real soon.
