I looked up Sheryl's degree on the University of Missouri website a while back for another project I was working on There is a foreign language requirement (French, Spanish, or Italian as I remember) for the people in the program today, and I wonder if this was true when Sheryl went to Mizzou? That's another question we need to add to the list to ask her. On their website don't they have somewhere that you can e-mail them. We could e-mail them and tell them about how much a Rock Diva show would be appreciated and the artists that would really be appreciated. And who knows the power we might have. If they don't have an e-mail or feed back section we could maybe think of some other way. I just think that VH1 should know that a Rock Diva show would be really cool. Cheers Amanda =) I may be grabbing at thin air but it could be worth a shot. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Mar 2000 17:32:24 EST From: MsCreation12283@aol.com Subject: [sheryl-crew] Singers The way I feel is that if you can sing it is a great talent and should be appreciated, but I respect people who can sing, write, compose, and play instruments a little more just because that is several talents. By saying that I don't mean and I don't think anyone does that it means they don't respect just plain singers as well. I respect anyone who has any talent at all, but I personally think it means more when the performer writes and plays their own material. I listen faithfully to only a few just plain singers, not because I dislike them but for some reason people like Sheryl and Sarah McLachlan affect me more. Take Care Amanda =) ------------------------------ Date: 21 Mar 2000 01:28:13 -0500 From: "Takuji Shimoda" Subject: [sheryl-crew] OFF: Re: Artist who can't write or play an instrument... Dear Crew, Sorry to continue this topic, but I forgot to mention this. Linda Ronstadt was, according to our Sheryl herself, the biggest influence to Sheryl in terms of singing, even so than Stevie Nicks. She told this in an interview on Japanese radio station last year. I'm yet to transcribe this interview, but I will in the near future. Singing well definitely needs a talent and I'd personally respect great singers more than "just a player" who don't write. But doing all of writing/composing, playing instruments and singing, plus being able to produce herself clearly needs an extra great talent. And that's why I regard Sheryl to be the greatest female artist I've ever known. 2000/3/20 7:01 AM, wrote DParr122@aol.com : >Takuji and Crew: >Interesting note.
