I recently redesicovered an old Roger Chapman album (Hybrid and lowdown - - from 1990), and I noticed that there's a Peter Stroud playing bass on most of the tracks. Does anybody know is this is "our" Peter Stroud? If so, then he's not only playing some mean guitar licks (with Sheryl), he's also an awsome bass player! Certainly sounds like the one and the same. BTW - where is everyone lately ? - last couple of days I have not received much email from this list - spring break or something... Now, she is a rather new Sheryl fan (thanks to me) and she wanted to get a sheryl album, when she realized that she wasn't there...I was like "oh! you don't know about walmart..." so I told her the story...then all of the sudden...we found Sheryl albums...however, they of course, did not carry "the bad" album. So they had the others (TNMC, TGS, LCP). I just thought that it was kinda cool, they did get over the incident, jsut not fully. Its a start, right! Ok, I have rambled, and you all probably knew that, but i have avoided Walmarts until today...so I didn't know...at least they are coming to there senses and they realized that Sheryl rocked, and how stupid they were for not carrying her albums...tsk tsk tsk. Oh well...sorry if I wasted your time all--just wanted to share :o) Aimee "I left the universe standing there, holding the hand of my best friend." - -Sheryl Crow ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2000 18:05:13 -0800 From: "Christopher Kowalski" Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Just A Note Greetings Sheryl Crew, Actually, hasn't Wal-Mart always carried the other Sheryl albums? As far as I know the only one they never carried was the self-titled one. Come to think of it, I bought my first version of "The Globe Sessions" (first U.S. release, not including "Sweet Child O' Mine") at Wal-Mart just before moving to L.A.... Get caught. They are so dumb that they would make a scene, call the cops, and the person doing this could tell the truth, that they brought it into the store. You might even be able to make a media thing about it and really embarass Wal-Mart. Especially if it happened several times in the same day all over the country - like on April Fool's Day. It would be funny and I am sure Sheryl would smile. It's mean, but I don't like Wal-Mart. Sorry. That is a clever idea about the shoplifting INTO the store BUT there still can be consequences for those who do it. I hate to bring my work home with me and I hate for others to know what I do for a living, but in this case I am going to speak up only to make everyone aware of what could happen if you do try Gregg's idea. I am a police officer, so let me explain. Although, Gregg is right, you could not be charged with retail theft because you actually never stole anything, you could possible face OTHER charges. Depending on how big of a scene you make, you could be charged with disorderly conduct. Disorderly conduct is a very broad charge and kind of a catch all so I am pretty sure you could be faced with this if you were to meet some very angry cops. Remember folks, cops don't like to work, and if you make a cop have to sort through a big mess and confusion like that, they will want to strike back and get you with anything they can not to mention what Wal-Mart would be saying. I on the other hand would laugh and say "Go Gregg!" if I rolled up on the scene and saw what Gregg or the rest of you did. I just don't know how many other Sheryl Crow addict cops you will find out there that will be amused by the whole escapade. Now don't let me scare you or think that I am not behind everyone on this one. I just want you all to be aware that if you did think about actually doing this, there may be an ending you were not prepared for. Sheryl WOULD be proud, but she wouldn't be handing over you bail either. Then again, it could all work out for the better and work according to plan; that is chance you will have to take. They tease me all the time for loving her so much, but she's obviously got catchy tunes. That was my opportunity to share the Sheryl love!! It was a Sheryl evening. those are the best.
