Does this happen to you a lot? Sheryl: uh, ya, I mean, it's odd. You know, I have, for the most part..people are really great and really encouraging and complimentary, but there are other people....I mean, I have had stalkers, I've had people that were...who really felt such a, such a, um, sort of abnormal connection to my music that they felt they knew me and had a personal relationship with me and stuff, and so it's, you know, it's just a part of it. You know, on the whole, I feel like I'm so deeply blessed to be doing what I'm doing, that it's just a part of it...you know. (could she possible say "you know" any more? lol) EZ Rock: You never know that when you write a song it can send out a vibe, it comes from your heart, best intentions from you, then it's sent out into the world and who knows how people will process it. That must have been a bit of a shock for you....as you say, some have abnormal connections. Sheryl: Well, it wasn't a shock for me, I guess I never really see myself as that famous that people actually know who I am. And it's moments where all of a sudden you are introduced to a real situation, it's kind of sobering. I mean, I think......I have to remember what it felt like when I loved songs as a kid and how I tapped into that and how much I felt like "how could they write that? That's exactly how I'm feeling!" and that's what you want. *both giggling* ...and I thank God I had sort of a normal upbringing so I didn't have any sort of bizarre....(cut off by music) -ABD- EZ Rock: Was that Wal-Mart situation...I don't know if you want to talk about it, or can talk about it, but was it an upsetting thing for you as an artist? Sheryl: No, no actually, well, it was upsetting what they did, cause I just thought it was a pretty weak stance to take. Not carrying the album as opposed to stepping forward and really being a leader in the communities that they've basically.....taken over. *both giggling* That they should, you know, that they should of at least come to the forefront and said "you know what? We do carry guns, we're not going to do it anymore, we realize that we are..."(she said something but I couldn't understand it, too much noise). But they did kind of put the blame on me, so I just thought it was weak, and lame, a real lacking of ...spine. EZ Rock: And how many more shootings have there been in communities in America since that happened? Sheryl: Ya, it's pretty... pretty discouraging. EZ Rock: ...pretty discouraging. Sheryl: mmhmm EZ Rock: Last question, one of my favorites, EDIAWR, where did you come up with that song? That concept? Sheryl: Um, I don't really know. I mean, I wrote it after this friend of mine, he was in a band, pretty well known, quit the band and just kinda lost touch with reality, he was having a bad bad bout of depression. And the song really , in a weird way, just sort of stemmed from that, just being around him and watching him struggle. -EDIAWR- There you have it! Hope you enjoyed this interview! It was cool cause you could hear all this background noice backstage at Lilith, it was very loud!
