If what he says is true, he needs therapy, fast!! Sure, we all know "sampling" and "borrowing" goes on when artists write. Not every song can be totally original. If someone as talented as Sheryl thought a piece I'd written was worth using, I'd be flattered! I was thinking about that scream in Love, (it is superb), when I remembered that during Unplugged, Sheryl sang "Love to love you baby", which is also "borrowed". I don't remember anyone being mad about that, fitted quite nicely and it shows she doesn't try to hide anything like so many others who nick stuff from other people and claim originality!!. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Feb 2000 07:06:28 EST From: DParr122@aol.com Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] knowitpoet70???? You can lie to anyone You can lie to me You can lie to everyone you see You can't lie to GOD Quit putting the blame on me Look at the self you don't want to see Truth is forever; it never dies Why you're caught up in your web of lies Where will you go on judgement day? Have you ever considered the price you'll pay? Thou shalt not steal; thou shalt not lie Those tales of yours, we shalt not buy When you're in your final hour And you're facing the almighty power Will you be worthy of rebirth After this hell you've created on Earth This was written for my oldest sister. She does not help with the youngest who is disabled. I help take care of her and her 2 boys. I have written poetry off and on since the 2nd grade. At age 14, my older sister threw all of my poems away, along with other possessions. I didn't write again until I was 18. All the poems written were in the possession of a former Viet Nam vet, my 1st love. When I suspected he was using drugs again, I left state. He had in his possession, in the neighborhood of 100 poems I HAD WRITTEN! I don't say Sheryl has no talent. I do not and cannot sing. I once sang karaoke in a bar, a year or two ago...Janis Joplin. I Cant Cry Anymore is about a multitude of things rolled into one. Yes, my brother abused drugs and alcohol in his life. He died the 7th of January this year. I WROTE WORD FOR WORD THE RECORDED LYRICS. There are a few others as well. Only Sheryl could tell you. Ofcourse, she won't. If anyone has a tape of her VH1 performance of a few years ago, look at how nervous she is when telling about Winding Road. My 9th grade English teacher inspired it...Ms. Ellen Thomas. My Michael's sorry life was saved in Viet Nam by a young black man, who was the nephew of a major producer in the industry. I'd say there is a connection somewhere. I was a naive 18 year old with no copyright on anything I had given Michael. This is no Carl Yung phenomena. Perhaps the truth may surface someday, by mysterious means. Maybe they will never surface. However, truth is truth in the eyes of God. So, MsCreation12283, pass this along to Ms. Crow. Tell her, her ghost is very much alive. I feel pain at times and joy at others, listening to MY CREATIONS. Perhaps one day, she will hear someone perform my work, and I will have credit for my lyrical creativity. I still write. I have worked hard all my life...the better part of thirty years in the same industry. It won't provide the care I'd like my sister to have. I prayed when I left Michael, that my siblings and I would win the coin toss, so to speak. Unfortunately, one of us lost. With Patti's illness, they claim each pregnancy is like the toss of a coin. Genetically speaking, Patti lost the coin toss. I don't know how to contact Ms. Crow directly, so, if you will, do pass this along to her. I doubt Ms. Crow ever had a brother with a heroin problem. Maybe she did. THE LYRICS REFER TO MY BROTHER! I bought tickets to a concert of hers, when she toured with Jakob Dylan. I have not heard all of my lyrics performed live. She is not the only artist to have recorded my material. I have, however heard the majority of them in live concert. I rise at 5:00am, to work 7:00 to 5:00pm. I am not an overly priviledged person. I have worked all my life. Mom was hospitalized when I was 7...died when I was 10. Daddy died when I was 18. Had he lived, Ms. Crow would not likely have been the recipient of any of my work. TRUTH IS TRUTH! Now my brother is gone as well. He gave Michael his first heroin stateside. Not that he wouldn't have found it sooner or later anyhow. I am an advocate for a DRUG-FREE America. Drugs ruin lives and is the numero uno problem in this country. knowitpoet ___________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Feb 2000 18:29:39 -0000 From: "Coltraneuk" Subject: [sheryl-crew] [Sheryl Crew] Re: poet70 mailed this to me Hi, At the moment I'm speechless. It seems to me that he may have a couple of mental issues, if that's true I hope he gets help. I looked at those lyrics that were supposed to have been from Strong Enough or whatever and they were obviously not the same thing. It's one thing to say that it resembles it (i didn't see it though) and another to say that it was ripped off. Anyway, Sheryl was not the only writer of the song, she shares the credits with others who worked on TNMC. Those men would be as much to blame as Sheryl in that regard right? Unfortunately when you are famous songwriter, a lot of times you see people with lawsuits and saying a song was stolen etc. There is really no way to prove it and anyway any person could scribble some notes down and date it and say that they wrote it first. Of course Sheryl didn't have a brother who had a heroin problem, but maybe she knew someone who did. Most of the fans know that the songs no TNMC were not all biographical about her personal life anyway. I just don't buy that because this person's brother had a heroin problem and wrote poetry or songs that they were stolen? Sorry, i just don't buy it. If he has that much of a problem hire a lawyer andn don't bother us with it. =================================== Mary, Mary quite contrary close your door now it's much to scary, and you might see something you wish you hadn't seen......
