He was on the phone for quite some time too, about half an hour or so. In that time frame, I had to convince my mother that he was a band member of Sheryl's. There was a roadie who used the other phone. Domino's Pizza anyone? My mother and I helped some delivery kid get the pizza to the door, of course, we weren't allowed inside. *A big wave to all of the FL fans on this list.* :) We should have a gathering someday. Ooh...yeah, I saw Girl, Interrupted last nite. Great movie, but I was surprised to hear EDIAWR and some other Sheryl song during one of the previews, a Julia Roberts movie. I think Lisa posted about this earlier, but can't recall. Of course, I'm annoying the heck out of my friend by saying, "That was Sheryl Crow! That was Sheryl Crow!" :) Katie ();) NP: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers "Good Booty" __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! HI, I know this review has already been posted but I just suddenly realised that I knew who wrote it, cos a friend of mine writes the reviews at GIRLSON.com called Susannah Perlman and ok well I was just gonna ask what music you all like apart from Sheryl? Well the reason I say that is cos I like artists like Sterophonics,Semisonic, Liz Phair etc.. BUT I also realy like O. ok it's a really obscure band and the lead singer/songwriter IS Susanna Perlman (the person who wrote the Sheryl review) anyway there music is just catchy and oh so so so FUNNY! I recommend anyone to check out their web page which is www.goddessperlman.com ok just a little warning the site does have like a little swearing on it so i dont wanna corrupt anyone!! but hey have a look if you have time :) anyway to make this more on topic here is the review and lets find out what music YOU like.... .TOM. I can't tell you how bummed I was when my pals scored tickets to Sheryl Crow in Central Park and didn't bother to let me in on it. Her gig this summer was a highly publicized event and apparently tickets weren't THAT hard to come by. Grrr! We're not talking just Sheryl Crow - we're talking Sheryl Crow with Keith Richards, Stevie Nicks, Chrissie Hynde, Eric Clapton, the Dixie Chicks and more. It was a night of legends past and present and I fume at the thought of missing out. Alas, all is not lost. Sheryl's latest release, "Sheryl Crow and Friends, Live From Central Park" lets me relive the summer fun without ever leaving my living room. Sheryl proves that she puts on one helluva show. She delivers most of her hits to a more than enthusiastic crowd, - "Everyday is a Winding Road", "My Favorite Mistake", "Leaving Las Vegas", "All I Wanna Do" - proving that her raw quality is truly genuine. The Dixie Chicks join her on a beautiful folk version of "Strong Enough" with really nice organ riffs throughout the song. The second half of the disc features duets with the Rock and Roll Greats: Stevie Nicks ("Gold Dust Woman"), Keith Richards (on the Stone's "Happy"), Eric Clapton ("White Room") and Sarah McLachlan ("The Difficult Kind"). Chrissy Hynde and Crow take "If It Makes You Happy" to an entirely new level with their contrasting grit. Everyone joins in on "There Goes the Neighborhood" and on the encore with a rocking version of Bob Dylan's "Tombstone Blues." The overall show is upbeat and tight (maybe a little too tight at times). All in all, Crow doesn't disappoint and proves that she is more than a gracious host to her legendary guests. Back in the day, Sheryl was a music teacher in Small Town, Missouri. She went out to LA to pursue music and ended up singing back-up for Michael Jackson, as well as George Harrison, Don Henley, Joe Cocker and Rod Stewart. She tried to pursue a record deal despite the fact that most female artists in the late 80's were dance oriented. In 1991, she signed with A&M and released a self-titled debut, only to scrap it because the release was too slick. She returned to the studio to release 1994's "Tuesday Night Music Club", which was inspired by her weekly jam sessions at a popular recording studio. These sessions lent her music a much more raw sound. With the album' s success, Sheryl established herself as a force to be reckoned with. Her follow-up self-titled release proved that Sheryl was much more than a one hit wonder. 13 million record records and 5 Grammies later, Sheryl was here to stay. The best thing about Sheryl Crow is that she bridges the gap between classic rock and contemporary sound. It is no surprise that most of her guests are also her influences. Her fresh infusion of blues, country and rock makes the perfect welcome mat for these veterans to return, while simultaneously exhibiting a mutual respect for the mistress of ceremonies. Needless to say, it was a good time had by all and I still wish I had been there. Such is life. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jan 2000 17:22:53 -0000 From: "Coltraneuk" Subject: [sheryl-crew] VHS Video Gregg, Dave, Thanks a lot for the advice, like all good things in life, you must pay ! but hell she's worth it!! I thought if anyone was looking for older articles from newspapers, I ofound a place. It's called lexis-nexis.com and if you click on news:General News: More options you can search by subject and date and newspaper. I was just reading old articles about her rise to fame and concert reviews from the 1994 tour. Pretty neat things really. there's mention of songs like "coffee shop" "I feel happy." they also mention songs like maybe angels, love is a good thing, and hard to make a stand, performed live before they were put on a CD. So check it out if you want. So I take it shes staying at her L.A. home right now. Just a little "locate Ms. Crow" update... Of course this is all coming from some girl at the video store, but I've ran into so many celebrities, that it wouldn't surprise me. After-All, what does the girl have as for a reason to lie? :-) Christopher Kowalski - christopher@ussjustice.com http://www.ussjustice.com/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jan 2000 13:34:40 -0800 (PST) From: Matt Stout Subject: [sheryl-crew] Just so you know... Anyway, there's a brand new one still in the box on ebay for only $10 at the moment, so if anyone wanted one, this could be your last chance. I'm tempted to bid on it myself. :) http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=237002255 Very few were made, and I have never seen one this cheap on their before (I've seen 3 others on there before and the were all between $25-$100) Later, Matt __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
