Just a word about the Live from Central Park. Yes it's a good live but it's not extraordinary in my opignon. I don't find incredible moments in it and emotion is missing. I will wait to see the video ( Anne I love you !!! ), maybe it will change my mind. Anyway the stage is very impressive !! ( imagine that I've seen Sheryl in places not much than 2500 persons !! ) Anybody can do a little sum up of who are the "friends" ?? I'm french and I thing I don't know an half of the guests ( what a shame, I know I know... ) Now my pool ( such a long time I didn't answer pools :-)) ) > 1.) What was the first Sheryl song you heard? Run Baby Run, the first song who was aired on radio here > 2.) How did it come about? (Radio, magazine, TV, Lilith...) Radio. Oh Marie, Anything but down, Stolen Moments > 5.) What's the first Sheryl video you saw? All I wanna do > 6.) What's your fave Sheryl video? I don't care videos > 7.) Do you have a favorite Sheryl talk show > appearance? As Laurence says, Sheryl is totally absent from the french TV > 8.) How many times have you seen her live? Have you ever met her? More details, please... I've offered her flowers for her birthday before her last concert in Paris. > 10.) What is your prize Sheryl possession? The fact that I'm touched by her songs. And my autograph and my concert tickets and 4 or 5 live CDs. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Dec 1999 17:08:58 -0500 From: "Larry Blumenthal" Subject: [sheryl-crew] Poll 01] WHAT'S THE FIRST SHERYL SONG YOU HEARD: "All I Wanna Do" [02] HOW DID IT COME ABOUT: I think she went into the studio and recorded it, then the record company released it, and then... . :) Oh, you mean how did I first hear the song? It was on the radio, of course, and the video all over TV. [03] WHAT DO YOU FEEL IS THE QUINTESSENTIAL SHERYL SONG: "If It Makes You Happy" -- 'cause I like the answer someone else gave about it showing she could create on her own and it also shows how great a singer/songwriter she is. [04] WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE SHERYL CROW SONG: From TNMC: "Can't Cry Anymore" From SC: "Maybe Angels" From TGS: "It Don't Hurt" From other sources: "Sad Sad World" [05] WHAT'S THE FIRST VIDEO FROM SHERYL THAT YOU SAW: "All I Wanna Do" [06] WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE SHERYL VIDEO: Hard to say because I haven't seen that many. The ones I remember are "All I Wanna Do", "If It Makes You Happy" and "My Favorite Mistake". [07] DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE SHERYL TALK-SHOW APPEARANCE: No. [08] HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU SEEN HER LIVE: Once. At the 9:30 Club on 2/14/97 right after I fell in love with the "Sheryl Crow" album. I didn't have tickets (it's a small place holding only 1000) but I bought one from a scalper and stood in line in the rain for 2 hours. I stood only 4 "rows" back from her. I'll never forget it. I wanted to see her again when she played with the Rolling Stones but didn't. [09] HAVE YOU EVER MET HER: Sure, Sheryl and I hang out all the time. In fact, she's here now peering over my shoulder as I type this, teasing me. Stop it, Sheryl! You know you do. Because I said so. You do too! Stop it, seriously. :) [10] WHAT'S YOUR PRIZE SHERYL CROW POSESSION: At the above-mentioned concert, I stayed after and got a guitar pick that's shaped like a heart and says "Sheryl Crow" on it from one of the stage managers. I don't know if it's one that Sheryl herself used (it could have been from another band member), but I'd like to think so. - -Larr __________________________________________ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Get your FREE Internet Access and Email at http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Dec 1999 18:48:19 -0500 From: "Christina Clark" Subject: [sheryl-crew] My personal poll Ok here they are: 1.) What was the first Sheryl song you heard? All I wanna do, although I didn't like it at the time..I found it exceedingly annoying (now that it isn't being played to death on the radio, I have a new appreciation for it). 2.) How did it come about? (Radio, magazine, TV, Lilith...) It was being played like CRAZY here, like every other song practically on the radio! 3.) What do you feel is the quintessential Sheryl song? The song that belongs in a time capsule, that sort of thing... I'm torn between IIMYH and EDIAWR, they are both equally well known....if I had a choice I would choose IIMYH, cause it is more sentimental to me. 4.) What is your favorite Sheryl song? Changes constantly...right now...It's Strong Enough, it is the first fingerstyle song I learned on guitar..so I listened to it over and over and over...everytime realising what an amazing song it is. 5.) What's the first Sheryl video you saw? I didn't watch music videos when AIWD was out...my first vid was IIMYH. The first time I saw the vid was the first time I heard the song too, I was so shocked...it was the country girl who sang AIWD!! lol That song was so amazing, and the rest is history. 6.) What's your fave Sheryl video? Home, it's a small piece of cinematic art :o) 7.) Do you have a favorite Sheryl talk show appearance? Definately the Aussie talk show appearance ('95?) where she did the song "Can't Take My Eyes off of You" in karaoke. That is without a doubt one of the funniest things I have EVER seen! lol! 8.) How many times have you seen her live? (Details encouraged, teehee.) Well in concert I have seen her 3 times: March.07/1997 Massey Hall, Toronto. That was an AWESOME concert, it was my second ever and it had me hooked...I love concerts now..I've been to at least 20 since. I think it helped that it was Sheryl....and it was at the best theatre in Toronto..with the best acoustics! Aug.21/99 Molson Amphitheate: Lilith Fair Awesome! Aug.22/99 Same venue (Lilith day 2) Awesomer!! lol ( I know that's not a word btw!) Special guest "The Artist" Then I have seen her perform live not in concert twice: March.7/97 Much Music Toronto, interview & performance of 3 songs. I was one of only 20 people in there!! Scout was just wandering around, very intimate...except for the camera that almost bonked me on the head! Nov.13/99 HMV Toronto, Autograph session and performance of 3 songs. I was first in line to get my auto. and we (my and Pattie) were right in front of her for her performance....Awesome experience! I tried my little ass of to get tix to the Trinity Sessions but it was a no go. Man...I was like "the little ass that could"!! lol 9.) Have you ever met her? More details, please... Although I did technically meet her at the autograph session, I was such a nervous wreck I couldn't say anything, I just said my name and stared! I know LOSER!!!!! What a waste! 10.) What is your prize Sheryl possession? Although I prize all my Sheryl cd's ( I only have12) they are replaceable, I would say...if my house were robbed (god forbid!..ok how about a flash flood?...there are no rivers near me!), I would be most upset about the loss of my Sheryl pics from the auto. session, Lilith, and my personalized auto. Rate Sheryl's albums in order of your preference. I can't, I love them all the same. 2. What's your least fav. Sheryl song? None, I truly love them all. 3. What song would you request of her in concert? Hard To Make A Stand, I always wait and wait for her to do it and she doesn't. 4. What song would you prefer not to hear in concert? I would prefer to hear every single one that she's ever written so that we could be there for a day or so. 5. What's your fav. Sheryl soundtrack song? Sweet Child o' Mine 6. What's your fav. Sheryl website? Her own, because she definitely checks into that one. 7. What artist is most similar to Sheryl? There's really no one like her and never will be. She ROCKS!!! 8. How have you fared in attempts to "convert" others to the glories of Sheryl? I've done well, I'm proud and I think Sheryl would be proud. I bought tickets for my friends to go see her in Oakland, they left that place and bought the CD the next morning. I also bought four tickets to Lilith Fair - 10th row seats, and my friends left there loving her as well. I also play all of my videos whenever friends come over and I work at a foster agency and now all of the kids, as soon as they get in the car, ask me to put Sheryl in. Then they scream "sing" at the top of their lungs. I love that the most. Sheryl puts a little happiness in their lives. 9. Who would you like Sheryl to do a duet with in concert? Stevie Nicks, because Stevie rocks as well, and I know that Sheryl admires her and it would show in the concert. Sheryl always has this look when she plays with Stevie. I love it. Next Poll - sorry this is so long:) 1. What was the first Sheryl song you heard? All I Wanna Do 2. How did it come about? Radio 3. What do you feel is the quintessential Sheryl song? If It Makes You Happy!! 4. What is your fav. Sheryl song? I have three - I Shall Believe, Hard To Make A Stand, If It Makes You Happy (There Goes The Neighborhood) Obviously, I have no favorite. 5. What's the first Sheryl video you saw? All I wanna do 6. What's your fav. Sheryl video? haven't seen 'em all, but I love MFM 7. Do you have a fav. Sheryl talk show appearance? I either miss 'em, or she just plays. I wish they would interview her more. She deserves it. 8. How many times have you seen her in concert? Unfortunately, only 2 times. 9. Have you ever met her? No, and I can't imagine how happy and nervous I would be. She answered one of my questions last night and I flipped out and called everybody. That was awesome!!! She probably doesn't even realize how powerful she is. 10. What is your prize Sheryl posession? My CD's and all of my posters and pictures. Thanks for putting up with me. You all rock, just like Sheryl. I also appreciate all you guys do for this list.
