I just now heard "Volvo CowGirl '99..." for the first time, and I thought I heard that it was a cover of someone-else's song, but then I heard it, and it's basically the "The Na Na Song..." with a different chorus... Is it a cover? If so, does that mean "The Na Na Song..." is a modified cover? *confused* I must say that I perfer "Volve CowGirl '99..." over "The Na Na Song...". :-) Christopher Kowalski - christopher@ussjustice.com http://www.ussjustice.com/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Nov 1999 17:14:21 PST From: "Johanna Galarte" Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] tomorrow never dies >>>laurence wrote: > i heard that the world is not enough was already >released in the US. is that right ? how's the movie >???? it's only on the french screens on dec 1st... i >don't know garbage, but how are their song ? i guess >sheryl's bond song is far better than theirs :) > > CREW: Please do not go see the world is never enough! The movie bites, its the most awful bond movie yet. I fell asleep the whole first half! And Denise Richards' acting sucks! but if anyone has seen the movie and liked it I respect your opinion, maybe I just wasn't in the mood to watch the movie, I was pretty tired when I saw it! Well that was just my 2 cents, plus I'm really bored and I should be writing an essay. I guess I should put on some sheryl to inspire me! excuse ,my rambling! later, Johanna ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Nov 1999 20:24:52 EST From: MsCreation12283@aol.com Subject: [sheryl-crew] Resusitation??? I have a question for all of you.... I was having a little arguement with one of my friends about Resusitation. Basically, they said it sucked most likely just to get me going but anyway....I like the song it isn't one of her best but I still think it is a pretty cool song (love the echoes). What do you guys think???? Amanda :) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Nov 1999 20:44:43 EST From: RDK144@aol.com Subject: [sheryl-crew] Ms. Crow Recognized! Hi Crew!!! Sorry I haven't wrote to you guys lately, but my best friend is getting Dec. 17th. She lives in St. George, Utah. So I drove my butt out there(all by myself:)..) from here in Cali to help her out..I just got back acouple of days ago.. It was great I was driving through some really beautiful canyons and the roads were really windy.. So ofcourse I played my Sheryl Crow CD and blasted "Everyday Is A Winding Road"..It was great crew!!:) Anyways to the topic I wanted to write about.. I just got my new issue in the mail of Guitar Player yesterday(Jan. 2000) Prince..Oh wait wait.. EXCUSE me.. I mean the Artist formerly known as Prince was on the cover.. They interviewed him about his new CD "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic". Here is what was said about Ms. Crow: "Production credit on the nwe album goes to the now returned Prince(apparentyl The Artist's fave producer), and there are cameo performances by Sheryl Crow, Ani Difranco, Chuck D, Gwen Stefani, and Maceo Parker. Explaining why his former personality nixed guest appearances, The Artist revealed, 'I'm competitive, and I've definitely let myego control me. But I've discovered that when it comes to music, ego has to sit down.' Rave punctuates this collaborative spirit with a cover of Crow's 'Everyday Is a Winding Road'-a track that finds The Artist riffing over hip-hop beats with a stinging attack worthy of Albert King." Also when he was commented on his solo "Baby Knows" this is what he had to say.. GP: I like your solo on "Baby Knows" Artist: I tried to go after Chuck Berry for taht one. I think I used my Tele through a small amp. Sheryl Crow played harp on that song-she nailed it on one take. There you go! Thats my Ms. Crow scoop for the day... I hope everybody had a awesome Turkey Day!! Rock On My Friends! I just came across this little press release about Sheryl's live album, thought you guys might like to read it. I find it very interesting that they refer to "It Don't Hurt" as a brand new song. Is it possible that means they'll release that version as a single? Thoughts? Well, here it is: - -------------------------------------- Sheryl Crow And Friends/Live In Central Park' Features Crow WithEric Clapton, Sarah McLachlan, Stevie Nicks, Chrissie Hynde,Dixie Chicks and Keith Richards LOS ANGELES, Nov. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Celebrating the conclusion of a year of triumphant touring, Sheryl Crow joined the likes of Janis Joplin, Diana Ross and Simon & Garfunkel by headlining a free concert in New York's Central Park. With "Sheryl Crow And Friends/Live In Central Park" (A&M Records), released December 7, 1999, her first live album documents the landmark event of Tuesday, September 14, 1999, which featured a handful of her greatest hits; duets with Eric Clapton, Sarah McLachlan, Stevie Nicks, Chrissie Hynde, Dixie Chicks and Keith Richards, and the debut of a brand new song, "It Don't Hurt." "Most summer nights, there's no place like Central Park to see stars. But sometimes, like last night, it's superstars that shine brilliantly there." (New York Post, September 15, 1999) All Crow and Friends wanted to do was make more than 25,000 fans happy and the two-hour concert did just that. Fourteen of the show's songs appear in their entirety on "Live In Central Park" (and are those mentioned in the following). Appearing mainly solo for the first set, Crow sang many of her own hits, including "A Change Would Do You Good" and "Leaving Las Vegas," as well as a new roadhouse blues song, "It Don't Hurt" -- none of which were heard on the FOX television version of the concert. The second set opened with actor Bill Murray walking onstage to announce that Central Park would, for the next hour, be the "coolest place on earth" -- and it was. After Crow performed her "Every Day Is A Winding Road," she invited her Friends onstage: Dixie Chicks joined her for a countrified "Strong Enough." Nicks launched into Fleetwood Mac's "Gold Dust Woman." Crow did a solo turn for her "My Favorite Mistake." Pretenders leader Hynde played guitar and sang on Crow's "If It Makes You Happy," and then moved to the rhythm slot as Richards sang and played the Rolling Stones nugget "Happy." McLachlan and Crow then made a duet of "The Difficult Kind" before Clapton let loose with the Cream chestnut "White Room." Closing the show were two stellar all-star jams, "There Goes The Neighborhood" and Bob Dylan's "Tombstone Blues," and the finale, Crow singing her signature tune, "All I Wanna Do." The latter two songs were also not heard on the FOX broadcast which was live locally and tape delayed nationally. The complete concert was rebroadcast the following Sunday on FX, FOX's cable network. Proceeds from the concert's merchandise sales and sponsorships were donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. "Live In Central Park" is Crow's fourth album. Her debut, "Tuesday Night Music Club" (1994), has been certified seven times platinum and won three Grammys, including Best New Artist for Crow, and both Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "All I Wanna Do." "Sheryl Crow" (1996) is triple platinum and earned the Grammy for Best Rock Album and, for "If It Makes You Happy," Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. "The Globe Sessions" (1998) was been certified platinum and was named Best Rock Album at this year's Grammy Awards ceremony.
