Hey Crew,
Sorry this might be a bit pointless... but I feel like telling it 
anyway. I was listenint to Mergeradio (Dallas rock radio) this morning 
and Sheryl was broadcast on a request show (she's played a lot on that 
radio). Anyway, when the song ended, the DJ made a comment saying that 
Sheryl is going to have an acoustic Gibson guitar specialy designed by 
and for her and that you'd better rush to your guitar store to get it as
 soon as it comes out. Apparently, sorry I was away from the radio and 
could barely hear, it'll have her signature -a copied, coz she won't 
sign every guitar herself- on it as well. So for all of you who are 
lucky enough to know how to play the guitar, it'll be a good Christmas 
gift...
Well, I'm done for today and sorry for that quite pointless speech.

Sheryl Crow signs for signature Gibson acoustic guitar

winner Sheryl Crow has signed with Gibson Acoustic Guitars

a Sheryl Crow Signature Model guitar. The guitars will be replicas of
Crow's prized Gibson "Country And Western" guitar, one of Crow's favorite
instruments and used extensively by her not only on stage, but for
songwriting and recording. 
Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson, said, "We couldn't be more
pleased to associate the Gibson name and tradition with Sheryl Crow. We
have admired her talents and accomplishments over the last several years
and are confident that both fans of Sheryl and fans of Gibson will love the

Crow has sent Gibson her very own 'Country and Western' guitar so that
Gibson master luthier Ren Ferguson could study it from headstock to endpin
and take detailed measurements and digital photographs of the guitar,
recording all details, right down to the label inside. 
"Sheryl wanted us to provide a guitar that is like the 'Country And
Western' she so often plays in performance," says Ferguson. "After studying
hers and painstakingly reproducing it, we provided her with a prototype
signature model which matched her liking perfectly. She loved it." 
The Sheryl Crow Signature Model Features: 
Square-shoulder body style which is similar to Gibson's Hummingbird. 
Sitka Spruce top with Honduras Mahogany back and sides. 
Antiqued lacquer on top, which matches the aged, honey-color of Sheryl's
guitar. 
Dark cherry-stained back and sides, matching hers. 
Pickguard material that matches her older-style faux tortoise one. 
Neck width and shape to Sheryl's specification. 
Rosewood fingerboard. 
Active pickup.

I somehow doubt it, partially based on the fact that the whole purpose of
making that kind of a guitar is to make it marketable to the average
musician. Most can't afford the $37 thousand price tag you put on it.

And by the way, the United States hasn't used 1/2 cents (which must be the
only way there could be three zeroes after the decimal place) since 1857,
when the 1/2 cent coin ceased production.

I hope the figure of $37, 500.00(0) is not in US currency, cause if it is,
there's no way that would be the cost of the guitar. Try under $2,000 easy.

Crew,

Signature Series tend to be expensive, specially cause it's Gibson, being
that it's Sheryl doesn't make it any cheaper or more expensive. It is great
it is Sheryl though, of course. I was extremely surprised by this, that's
better than winning a Grammy or any other award in my opinion, but then
again I play guitar, so I've got a bias opinion. Oh well, start saving, is
all I can say. $2000 sounds like what it should round. From the article it
looks like it will be very close to the one Sheryl uses the most, you all
know which one that is (Storytellers for example).

Legends have signature series, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Slash
(legend?), etc etc, and now Sheryl! Way to go girl!

According to this week's Entertainment Weekly (page 80), Dallas Austin (who 
produced TLC, Madonna) will take over production of the album.  The article 
goes on to say that some tracks Sheryl produced could possibly be on there.  
Maybe Sheryl couldn't fit it in to her schedule?

I'll let you know.
