Have you heard/seen the Chevrolet ads where a woman sings "See the USA, in your Chevrolet..." and it ends with her saying "Let's go for a drive." It sounds like someone doing a good imitation of Sheryl!! (Just like the Sherwin Williams ad.) Either Chevy couldn't come up with the $$ or Oldsmobile signed her first! Also, Larry, it would be great if you posted TV listings every week. I would have missed a lot of her appearances if I wasn't on this list.Heather ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Oct 1999 09:22:38 -0700 (PDT) From: Easter Subject: [sheryl-crew] Re: vh1's Concert of the Century > Subject: [sheryl-crew] vh1 white house concert > > I completely forgot it was on today..DOH! Thanks :) Sheryl sang Strong Enough with Tim and Peter. I was really impressed with Peter's guitar playing when he substituted the strings/accordion part. There was also another song she sang and it sounded like country. Sheryl is so talented. Before she sang the second song, she talked a little bit about being a music teacher. Not much, she said it was true she was a music teacher and "they called me Miss Crow." There was another song she performed with Al Green and Lenny Kravitz. She played on the keyboards with this one, but I don't know the name. She wore a blue velvet-looking tank top with a black scarf and tan pants. It was a good show if anyone watched the whole thing. I didn't catch President Clinton's speech on my tape plus the final performance with John Mellencamp singing "This Land Is Your Land." I loved his performance of "Pink Houses" with the choir. If Vh1 does plan to show this again, Sheryl is the second performer to come on, but the third song comes on about 1.5 hrs into the show. I was hoping she'd play the accordion like she did for the '97 Honors show. I liked that show, should watch it again. Oh yeah, I've noticed Eric Clapton has been on Vh1 on a lot lately. I still have an extra copy of the Guitar World Acoustic magazine I offered earlier. Email me privately if you like to set up a trade. The article is interesting too, she mentioned Bob Dylan of course. I've getting into a Bob Dylan fix lately. What I like about this article is there's a little section dedicated to Peter and Tim and mentioned they'll be playing on Stevie Nicks' album. Toward the end of the tape, she shows why she is so special, she played backup for a blues song (i think) and she looked liked she really enjoed it. How many super stars would do this. Our Sheryl for one! One of our crew said it was a keyboard she was playing. When Merril Strepp introduced Sheryl, I think she said it for all of us Her words " She is one of the most accomplished singer/ song writer of the 90's, and remains a teacher in the very best sense of the word. She is a Truth Teller, Story Teller, and ROLE MODEL." This couldn't have been said any better - That's Sheryl. Her two songs i saw were strong enough and a tune by Hank Williams where she tried to do a little yodeling. Hank Williams would have been honored with her rendition. Hey everyone - First off , I have to say that being in D.C. while this event was going and NOT being able to be at the show really drove me nuts. Nevertheless, this was assauged by a shopping spree in Georgetown and a leather pants purchase at BCBG :-) Now, for the important stuff . . . VH1 notes on their site that the Concert of the Century will be rebroadcast in its entirety , commercial free , on November 4 at 4 a.m. Soooooo, set those vcrs for those of you who missed it ! For those who didn't miss it , I think it's worth watching again . . . what do ya think? She said she liked her teeth and disliked her haristyle when she was asked about her favorite part, during her interview in Japan. When the interviewer pointed out the influence of Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones on her music, she said she liked Keath Richards very much, and then jokingly added Bob was her father. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Oct 1999 00:52:22 -0500 (EST) From: david WILLIAMS Subject: [sheryl-crew] Good Morning Heartache I came across this song in mp3 and thought it was pretty cool. I have the C.D., but really didn't like it all that much, the music was all really slow, and the Sheryl track (Mentioned above...) didn't really carry much of her trademarks like the guitar riffs, or bluesy feel. Don't get me wrong, Sheryl sounds great, and it's a nice song, but just didn't seem right. You can check out the Walden Wood's Project website at... http://www.walden.org/project/ As for "what performance it was from...", it was from the one and only performance they did for the project, from my understanding. It's a great cause, and only fitting that Sheryl Crow was involved, having done back-up for Henley.
