I don't understand. The song "Book" was about this news article? Or about the experience with Kevin Gilbert? What makes me angry everytime I read about the Tuesday Night Music Club experience is that somehow Sheryl is accused of singlehandedly taking the music and releasing it on a CD with all the publicity and marketing focusing only on herself. In reality, it would be virtually impossible for a brand-new act who no one has ever heard of to accomplish this. The record company plays the biggest part-- what they want to happen, will happen. Somehow Sheryl gets her first CD rejected by the record company but then acts alone in stealing music to create the TNMC CD and selling it as her own? It doesn't add up. - -Larr ________________________________________________________ NetZero - We believe in a FREE Internet. Shouldn't you? Not the old elevator music versions of hits, but the actual songs by the actual artists piped in via satellite. Anyway, today I heard TDK on it for the first time..by the way, at least 5 times a day, they play a Sheryl song :) - -- Bob Vote at my web site: "Stellini's Hero's & Turds List" http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/9871/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Sep 1999 21:18:07 +0200 From: Brigitte & Michael Subject: [sheryl-crew] Concert review from Rolling Stone http://rollingstone.tunes.com/sections/news/text/newsarticle.asp?afl=mail2&N ewsID=9168&ArtistID=97&origin=news Not a great one, but hey those reporters have to write something. Crew, You may have noticed that a few days ago there were like 4 copies of some e-mails I sent. I'm really sorry, my computer was messing about just as usual but everything's hunky-dory again now. I was away for two days which is why I didn't notice and apologise earlier. Sorting out university and all! Well, looks like I was wrong on the SCOM lyrics! Nevermind, that has been known to happen before once in a while. It's funny how much can happen over a few days. I came home and I had 69 messages from the list. I was happy about it though and glad to see all the reviews of the show even though I can't see it being in Ireland and all. Oh well, c'est la vie. Some of the details are the same as at Lilith in Kansas that I went to. She had the Dixie Chicks doing Strong Enough there and Sarah doing TDK and she had Sarah's husband on the drums for EDIAWR. I still wish I had've been in New York but some things are just not meant to be. As for somebody's comments about national anthems earlier. The Irish national anthem isn't too bad at all although it is a little anti-English at times. I sing it in Irish anyway which isn't too hard. Quite a few people sing it in English but I don't know it in English, I think it's a bit of a cop-out. It's the Irish national anthem, it should be sung in Irish but that's just my opinion. Just a little (very off) insight, since you asked! Well he's got a very big southern drawl too. And I have been a Petty fan, much longer then I've been a Crow fan and this is the first time I noticed that she has an accent! I think it's because I've gotten used to hear a southern accent, because of listening to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers so much. I like it. I mean, obviously I have absolutely NO clue as to what was the truth or not, but to read as these people insult Sheryl and say all these mean awful things about her just pisses me off!!!!!!! Especially when I read what that Wilson bitch said about her! Barking at her, making her cry!!??? That's just f***ed up!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe this story made me so angry! But Sheryl Crow will always be better off by herself and they all know it! They're just so jealous that all they can do is denounce her! Thank the good lord that "Sheryl Crow" the lp and the woman is EXTREMELY successful, thank god she has new musical partners, and thank god she is a 'strong enough' woman to go on with her immense success! It's a shame these kinds of things happen, but that is unfortunately how life can go. At least she has positively moved on. BTW, I don't think that she really needed those musicians to help her anyways, I mean listen to how much BETTER her records are!!!!!!!!!! Sheryl, we support you! No matter what, keep on crowin'! I moved down here near Kennett, Mo. last year, and compared to 99% of the way people sound down here, Sheryl has no southern accent at all! I know, to you not from the midwest, she probably does, but believe me, spend a day down here talking to people and you'll see what I mean.
