Here it is. "The Minus Man marks the acting debut of Sheryl Crow, as a victim of a serial killer. It's a cameo, but a solid one. Speaking of debuts, Hampton Fancher, 61, actor and screenwriter (Blade Runner), takes to directing with impressive results. Fancher fashions a potent thriller that grows in intensity as the audience realizes that the character it likes most is most likely a nut job. Owen Wilson is startlingly good as Vann Siegert, a drifter who rolls into a coastal town and easily charms the locals. Never mind the bodies he leaves behind. Vann takes a room with an unhappily married couple, incisively played by Brian Cox and Mercedes Ruehl, and even romances a postal clerk (the ever wonderful Janeane Garofalo). Wilson, who co-wrote the acclaimed scripts for Bottle Rocket and Rushmore with Wes Anderson, has acted as comic relief in films (Armageddon, The Haunting) that don't suggest his range. The Minus Man should change all that. It's a film that dodges gore to plumb the violence of the mind." It was in the 'Boos and Bravos' section. Sounds like a bravo to me! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Sep 1999 17:16:13 -0700 (PDT) From: Brad Boose Subject: [sheryl-crew] Where's the show?!?!?! Anyhoo... Here's what I got: EDIAWR - Ash Sood (Sarah McLachlan's hubbie) on bongos Strong Enough w/ The Dixie Chicks Gold Dust Woman w/ Stevie Nicks (whoa...rhyming there) MFM IIMYH w/ Chryssie Hynde (sp?) Happy w/ Keith Richards TDK w/ Sarah McLachlan White Room w/ Eric Clapton TGTN (Dixie Chicks, Sarah and Chryssie coming out to dance at the end) Well..that's it. My highlight was definitely Stevie's performance! I pretty much predicted Sarah would be doing TDK with Sheryl. It was a great show, too short. Can't wait for Sunday's performance of course. Two hours. Now as to what I mentioned earlier in my post...well... not so good having to put up with them shrinking Sheryl to a quarter of a screen to blast the latest updates of the storm. This really ticked me off, even though they did it once, but try to watch a really good show with "diapers, pets, perscriptions," and blah blah blah with the hurricane shelters floating on the bottom of the screen. Enough to make me scream to tell ya. Oh well...should end this before I ramble on more. Sorry if I come across as wicked witch or something. I was in the front row. Too tired to write much now as I waited for five hrs before the show. ANyhow, it was amazing. BEsides what already aired on Fox, Sheryl did all of her other big songs, including SCOM. She also dueted with Sarah M. in the first hour on "Angel." During a commercial, she and the Dixie Chicks did an awesome fast version of "Mississippi". I hope it does come out on cd like rumored. I headed down there around 2pm today to get a place in what I thought would be a long line. Surprisingly when I got there it was only a handful of people and they opened the gates at 4pm. Before letting us in they told us that we would receive arm bands so that we could be up front! I was FRONT AND CENTER! It was amazing. I made a crappy looking sign that said "SHERYL ROCKS" with miscellaneous scraps from those around me and I stuck it to the front of the barricade where I was standing. Sheryl looked at it and smiled at me! I caught two pics too! Neither of them were directly from Sheryl but that is okay. They are the heart shaped ones with her name on the back. Okay, sorry for the stupid details of my excitement, now about the show. I think it is the best I have ever seen Sheryl. She made very few mistakes and seemed to be really having a good time. She made lots of jokes in between when they were taking a commercial break. She told one joke that went like this, "a skeleton walks into the bar and says, 'give me a six-pack of beer and a mop' " NO one really laughed at first and then Sheryl said, "a skeleton has no innards (spelling?) get it?" and everyone laughed. I thought it was cute. The Dixie Chics seemed to like it. I didn't bother to write down the song list because I am sure someone else on here will. She did do TDK but Eric didn't do that one with her like he did on his special. They were very FRIENDLY with eachother when he came out. They kissed like three different times (on the lips but just friendly) and they chatted a little in between. I thought they seemed a lot more comfortable than they did when she did his special with him. Lots of people were complaining afterwards that Stevie Nicks only did one song which was my favorite "Gold Dust Woman". She did come out again at the end (when everyone did) and play the tamborine. She looked really good too--like she has lost weight. Sarah McLachlan was wonderful as usual. She did "Angel" first with Sheryl singing alternating verses. Then she helped out on another song but I am too tired to remember which one it was. I really enjoy when Sarah and Sheryl sing together. Well crew, I am sorry if I have bored any of you, like I said it is midnight here and I have been up for almost 24 hours--the last 12 I have been standing the entire time. I hope others will elaborate further and I will be happy to give any more info if you want to write me privately. Right now I must go to sleep. I will have pleasant dreams for sure....
