Since she's nominated for best website and all. Not that it matters b/c MTV seems to not like Sheryl for they never play her videos. Today I was watching the MTVnews:1515 show and Sheryl was on for a brief 5 seconds. The guy asked her if she remembered the moon-man statue thingie being their symbol or something like that.......... and he asked her what she thought of it..............and she said "I'd like to have one!!" And then she said "yes" she remembers seeing it as their symbol. But I thought that was ironic seeing that *Sheryl Crow* is never nominated for ANY video awards. :0p Not that it matters b/c I think MTV's awards suck! They're always about the stank-ass pop bands who will be LONG GONE in a few years! Who else went to the Kennet show besides the one guy who already posted his experience? Damn, how I wish I coulda been there!! Go to www.dddnews.com --Kennet's paper for a short article on Sheryl's show Thursday night. peace to all! Sorry for rambling, I'm a bit bored!!!! tee-hee Brooke ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. Sheryl began her the program with "A Change," which was from her second album "Sheryl Crow." The proceeds from the benefit concert are going to the Kennett #39 Educational Foundation to provide scholarships to the Southeast Missouri University Kennett Higher Education Center. The concert, which featured only Sheryl and her guitar player and harmony singer, Tim Smith, performed many songs from Sheryl's latest album "Globe Session." They also sang several songs from her other albums A wide array of age groups were represented at the concert held at the American Legion Building. When Sheryl began singing "My Favorite Mistake," the crowd of young people began cheering, whistling and clapping along with the music. Throughout the evening, Sheryl performed other favorites such as "It Don't Hurt," "Winding Road" and "Strong Enough." During the second half of the concert, Sheryl and her sister, Kathy Crow, took the stage to perform "Difficult Kind." Kathy sings backup on the album with her sister. The entire Crow family was seated front row and center to show their support of their favorite star. "I will have to admit," said Sheryl, "that having my entire family on the front row for one of my concerts is not the usual crowd I perform for and it is a bit un-nerving. "I am really glad to be here in Kennett and performing for such a good cause," said Crow. "I enjoy doing the concerts and so does Tim. He was with me the last time we performed and rocked the Kennett High School Metz Cherry Stadium." Earlier in the day, Sheryl, Tim and Kathy were at the American Legion Building for sound checks and rehearsal. From outside the building, those who did arrive a bit early, could hear Sheryl performing the songs she had chosen for the concert. By 5:15 p.m. the crowd began lining up outside the building to get inside. The concert began at approximately 7 p.m. with the building completely full. The Kennett High School Honor Society, as well as many local residents, served as volunteers to help people find their seats and to keep order among the crowd. The Kennett Police Department, Dunklin County Sheriff's Department and several Missouri Highway Patrol officers were on duty for security. Before the concert, Sheryl met with the news media to answer questions about her life as a superstar. Since she did this concert to raise funds for the Educational Foundation, Sheryl said she thought one thing for a writer, or anyone, is to have an interest in learning. "Learning doesn't stop after high school or college. College teaches people to be a bit more disciplined, which with what I do, I have to be disciplined. "Education is so very important," said Sheryl. "I am very pleased to help out the school. When it comes to supporting school and church I think of this as home, even though I live so far away. But when I get homesick this is what I get homesick for." Sheryl said that it was very important in her life that while growing up she was surrounded by many teachers, people and her parents that instilled in her that "she could do anything she wanted." About her family life, "It is really good to be home. Sleep in my own bed and have my mom's home cooking," commented Sheryl. "It is very relaxing for me to come home to Kennett. Several years ago when I would come home it would be very hectic. But now, it seems to have slowed down and everyone in Kennett allows me to have my freedom and time to myself when I am here." "Right now, I am doing the concert here, then I will be going to New York to do a free concert in Central Park that will be aired live on the Fox network," she said. "There will be several special guests such as Eric Clapton and Stevie Nicks and Jerry Seinfield is hosting it. "Life on the road is very interested," said Sheryl. "We do a concert, get on the bus, travel to the next place, perform, then start the process all over again. But there is a down side to being on the road. You lose track of time, people in your life and sometimes it can be very boring, but for two hours every night I get to do what I love best." Sheryl said she would like to be able to continue to do the benefit concerts annually. "I think that it would be really great to be able to come here every year and help raise money for education," Sheryl said. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Sep 1999 02:56:00 -0700 From: "David Ribeiro" Subject: RE: [sheryl-crew] OFF: Happy Birthday Christina, Yes, I turned 20 as well, eh he.
