I recall on several occasions her mentioning that she would like to do a country CD....maybe this could help her out in that market. I think she'd be great with any kind of medium - rap to classical! She's just the best! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 14:47:47 EDT From: SCFANCLUB2@aol.com Subject: [sheryl-crew] OFF: "Bramhall" Hey Crew, As you may have noticed, I've changed the configuration so that [sheryl-crew] appears in the subject line of every message sent to the list. I figured it might help organize things a bit in your mailboxes. Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment to plug an artist by the name of Doyle Bramhall II. He's managed by Sheryl's same management team (Scooter and Pam for W Mgmt), and he just released an album on RCA records under BRAMHALL. The album's titled "Jellycream" and was produced, mixed, and engineered by Tchad Blake. Mitchell Froom and Wendy Melvoin (who happens to be Doyle's sister-in-law) play on most of the songs. It's categorized as "rock" but also has alot of blues influence. I was reading his bio and apparently he's a some sort of guitar prodigy, who played with the Vaughn Brothers at the age of 18, and is currently the guitarist in Roger Waters' touring band. So, if you like blues rock, kind of like Big Head Todd and the Monsters type of music, then check out Bramhall! He also tours with his band Arc Angels. website: http://www.dbramhall.com Also, I wanted to mention that there's this new female guitarist by the name of Shannon Curfman, who's only 14 years old, very much like Jonny Lang (he plays and co-writes on the album), and she's releasing an album next month on RCA. Anyway, the album is called LOUD GUITARS, BIG SUSPICIONS. Of course that made me think of the line in "Hard To Make A Stand," but I was wondering if this is some sort of common phrase, or perhaps Shannon's just a fan? I haven't heard the album yet, so I can't really tell you what it's like, but I do know she's playing a few shows with Melissa Etheridge this fall. OK, I'll be quiet now. It has the "I've crossed canyon..." section cut out of it though so, it sounds strange to hear it like that, I wish they'd left it in. Long time, no write to the Crew. My bad. =( Anyhoo...my fave cd store had this special appearance by Trish Murphy tonite. I went to check it out to see where in the world they could put her cuz the store is tiny! Well, in the corner is where she was and three other band members. She only performed four songs and I liked what I heard, so I got her cd. I didn't think she would be doing autographs cuz she had to go to a gig afterwards, but when I met her, I had no idea what to say so I sorta blurted out that I didn't know if I wanted to be there, but my friends recommended that I go. She noticed me wearing my Sheryl shirt from TGS and asked if I went to Lilith. I said yes, even though I went last year and not this year. She said how she met Sheryl and got to talk to her, saying she's really nice. Soo...if you see Trish Murphy's cd. I recommend checking it out! Katie ();) P.S. The hurricanes haven't threatened me yet. I have no idea why I'm posting this, but hopefully no other Crew members are affected! === ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* "I believe you believe in the myth of yourself." -Luscious Jackson ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hey Crew, Someone just dropped this little note in my mailbox... From MTV Radio Network Morning Facts: "Singer Sheryl Crow and some of her musician friends - among them David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Stevie Nicks and Lilith colleagues Sarah McLachlan, Chrissie Hynde and the Dixie Chicks - will perform a free outdoor concert in New York's Central Park on September 14th. The concert will be broadcast live on Fox-TV and Crow has been added - along with Korn - to the lineup of the October 9th NetAid concerts to raise money for impoverished third-world countries. The concerts will be staged in New York, London and Geneva, but there's no word on exactly who will be performing where." Central Park To Host Clapton, Crow .c The Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) - Sheryl Crow and Eric Clapton will perform a free concert in Central Park next month that will be broadcast live on TV, radio and the Internet. The Sept. 14 concert will take place in the park's East Meadow, where the Dalai Lama spoke earlier this month. Concert sponsor American Express will distribute some 25,000 tickets in New York in the week preceding the concert, Parks Department spokesman Robert Lawson said. Those interested in attending would have to play a free lottery-like instant game, with winners receiving two tickets each. The concert is billed as ``Sheryl Crow and friends, including Eric Clapton.'' Lawson did not know who the additional ``friends'' would be. AP-NY-08-27-99 0132EDT Copyright 1999 The Associated Press.
