Hi! I just got back from seeing Sheryl at Rockefeller Center. She was awesome as usual. I got there at 7:00 am and it was already pretty crowded. Well, it was worth standing on my tip toes for two hours in a huge crowd. She played three more songs after the Today Show ended. Here's the complete setlist: Everyday is a Winding Road The Difficult Kind If It Makes You Happy - --after show ended-- There Goes the Neighborhood All I Wanna Do (between these two songs, she asked us if we wanted another song and that she had finally warmed up) My Favorite Mistake It was hard seeing her because I'm not very tall, but it was fun. I'm glad I went. Also, I'm going to see her again tonight at the Lilith Fair! Take care! Incidentally, IT DONT HURT uses the same exact tuning and its really easy to play. I went with two of my friends, and we got there at 4:45 AM. At that time, there were only about 30 people. At about 5:30, my friend and I took a walk to where her buses were, and I saw a guy walking a yellow lab. So, naturally, I thought it was Scout. My friend shouted , "Scout!", and I said to the guy, "Is that Scout?" He said, "Who?" Anyway, I took a picture of the dog, and next thing I knew, the guy and the dog walked right on to Sheryl's bus. I forgot to mention that my friends and I were in the front row, right in front of her. So, it was Scout! Then, at about 5:45, Sheryl, wearing a 3/4 length black shirt and dark short jeans and funky sandals, took the stage with her whole band. She was wearing no makeup and these yellow glasses I've never seen her wear before. She was warming up and testing the equipment, but she played for almost 45 minutes. During IFIMYH, she couldn't hit the high notes, so the audience had to help her out. Then, during TGTN, she couldn't remember the words that early in the morning--it was so funn! After she played, at about 6:30 or 6:45, she went around to all the people in the front and signed autographs, so she autographed my GS cd! I was nearly hyperventilating. I got pictures of her so upclose i can't believe it. I talked to her too! here's our conversation: me: I love you, Sheryl! Sheryl: Oh, thank you my friend: She really does love you, she goes to all your concerts Sheryl: Oh, that's great, thank you me: you were really great at Lilith in Boston Tuesday Sheryl: thank you so much We talked a little more, but I was on such cloud nine I don't really remember the rest. Well, then she came out to perform on the Today show, and this time she had makeup on, and she was wearing her white leather pants, New Balance sneakers and a black David Bowie babytee. Well, after she played her three songs on the Today show, she played for us for like at least 20 more minutes. Then, we went to her bus to wait for her and she finally ran unto the bus. My friends and I ran after the bus for 5 blocks, but then got too tired. The whole experience was so unreal I can't believe it. I never thought I could get so close to her without even paying any money. Well, if anyone else has stories, please wri te them. There was about 50 people already there, but I got some what of a front row seat. I was right in front of her, but I was like the forth person in. When I got there, the stage was already set and they were doing sound check. She came out wearing sunglass and sandals, no makeup at 5:30AM. She went back in, came back out around 6:00AM and played these songs for sound check. Everyday is a Winding Road The Difficult Kind If It Makes You Happy Maybe That Something (I think it was this, it was 6AM!) There Goes the Neighborhood She complained about the static she was getting on her lips from the microphone. Some stage guy fixed that... Then she replayed almost the whole set because she didn't like something. I couldn't hear. Everyday is a Winding Road The Difficult Kind If It Makes You Happy There Goes the Neighborhood It's early so I guess she really didn't want to sing out the chourse part of IIMYH, so she said "You guys are gonna have to carry it" First time she sang it, she just raised her hand and just said "if it makes you happy...", she wasn't singing at all. It was kinda funny. By this time, it's like 6:40AM. She gets a pen from the director of Today Show, and she goes around signing autographs for the people who lined up this early. When she was signing mine, I asked her, "So Sheryl, what time did you wake up this morning?" She answered in a joking voice "I don't go to sleep, darling!" She called me darling!!! Hey, I can die happy now... For those of you that are on the loose mail version of this list (you get each post individually), when you hit "reply", your reply will now go to the person who wrote the post that you are replying to. (It had been set up that by hitting "reply" it automatically went to the list). What this means that is from now on, if you wish for your reply to ALSO go to the list (sheryl-crew@smoe.org), you will either have to it "reply-all" (which in most cases sends your reply to the person who wrote the post AND the list), or you will also have to type in sheryl-crew@smoe.org in the To: field. If you accidently get a response that you think might apply to the entire list, please have the courtesy of either passing the message along to the list, or e-mailing the person back and letting them know of their mistake. If you're on the digest, this has no affect on you. I know it's going to be a difficult thing to adjust to, but I'll try to keep reminding you guys, especially since the list will be down from this Saturday morning until Sunday or Monday. Thank you, Lisa p.s. It takes affect as of now. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Aug 1999 01:15:31 EDT From: Hurcane17@aol.com Subject: Today Show hi crew, can those of you who went to the today show on fri aug 6th and took pics of sheryl please email me privately? i'm looking for pics from that show to post on my sheryl crow website...please help...also, if you taped the show and have the capability to make screen captures, they would be greatly appreciated also. thanks a lot...sheryl rocks! - -jess ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V2 #279 *********************************
