I discovered them at the radio station I am a Dj at. Anyway they do a hard rock cover of If It Makes You Happy that is really cool. I was wondering if anyone knew where this band was from or if they ever heard anything else from them before. I'm really disappointed that I won't be able to watch the Hard Rock Live show this weekend. We have a weird cable system and we don't get VH1 after 6pm. Does anyone know of any other bands who have covered any Sheryl Crow songs? I thinkit's fun to see how other people have interpreted the songs and made them their own. Let's start at about 11 AM yeaterday morning: Yesterday morning, my sister asked if I wanted to go to Lilith that day with her friends. I didn't even know it was that day, so it shocked me. So at about 3, we picked up her friends and headed to Blockbuster Pavilion. We somehow ended up with VIP parking right outside the gates, so we got lucky. We walked around for a good while, and ended up getting to the lawn around 5:30, the start of Mya's set (Which, in turn, gave us the worst seats in the world: The complete rear of the lawn.) I kind of felt sorry for Mya. Everyone came there for the rock acts and no one was listening to her. When she begged everyone to stand up no one did. It was so sad! She did, among others, "Movin' On," "All About Me," and, the Rugrats Theme, "Take Me There." Finally, some people started clapping when she tap danced, but the set wasn't at all memorable. Around the time of the second act, Me'shell N'degeocello, I was getting REALLY bored. It was 90-something degrees and I was swatting away bugs every five seconds. During Me'shell's set (I didn't know any of the songs), I found out that Krissy, one of the people I went with, had a first row ticket. I already knew that she went backstage and met Sarah, but this was news to me! She was sitting with us at the very back of the lawn when she could be up there! My sis's other two friends had section 90.. That didmn't sound too good, and Krissy wouldn't let me use her un-used ticket, so I stayed back there. (I swear this gets better, so keep reading.) After the 30-minute Gaelic choir thing on the side stage, visible from the lawn, The Pretenders came out. The two friends with Section 90 went to those seats for the Pretenders, since they liked them. I don't really like The Pretenders, so I really only recognized "I'll Stand By You," which I forgot was their song. Luckily, their set passed by quickly (I guess I liked the songs, so it made the time pass by quicker, but I'm not sure). So, here's where it gets good. I'll go into more detail here, because this is what I remember the most. I was kinda bummed out by then, when the two Section 90 friends, Crystal and Tisha, came back and Crystal told me to come with her to the seats. Tisha let me use her ticket because she doesn't like Sheryl. I grabbed the binoculars and started following her. She took the binoculars and threw them back, saying that I wouldn't need them! So we walked about 10 minutes (That's how long it took to get through the lawn), and went to the restrooms. I really had to use it, until I saw that half the people in the Men's bathroom were women. So I waited for Crystal, and we made it to out seats just as Sheryl came on. I was so bust trying to get to the seat, that I turned, and I must have been at least 10th ROW CENTER! My God, I was freaking out by then. I danced and sang along to every song (Jewel people, you must know that Sheryl is my second favorite artist, so I knew all the songs). There was this woman next to me who sat down the whole time with her fingers in her ears!! I was about to hit her for buying good seats and doing that. She ended up doing (in no particular order): A Change (Would Do You Good): This really got people started. Excellent choice for a first song. My throat was already hurting by the end of this! My Favorite Mistake: Everyone knew this song and was singing along.. Amazing energy. The Difficult Kind: Maybe 15% of the people there were Sheryl fans. So everyone was dancing, while we were singing. This song turned out SO good live! Am I Getting Through (both parts): My personal highlight of the evening! Ooh, it felt like energy was shooting out of fingertips, especially during the "Am I, am I, getting through.." part.. I must give serious kudos to the lighting people, who did an amazing job through the entire thing! If It Makes You Happy: Ooh, maybe THIS was the personal highlight of the evening. Everybody was singing and dancing. And the light got super bright duing the chorus.. I think this was the song she did with Gretchen Gaines.. Strong Enough: Man, she called out Sarah during this song, and the place went crazy! The song turned out really good.. Sarah had a little sheet she was singing the words off of.. So cute! Every Day Is A Winding Road: I was, as with the rest of the songs, dancing and singing my ass off.. I swear, Sheryl can do no wrong! So great! There Goes The Neighborhood: She ended the show with this song. I think it was because it's supposed to be the next single or something. Ahh.. I was jumping up and down during the chorus. My feet were killing me! All of ya's have to see Sheryl Crow live! She totally kicked ass! She is officially my favorite concert artist (Since the only time Jewel's EVER been in Charlotte is during Lilith '97, which I missed!).. My feet still hurt and my voice is still gone from that experience.. Sadly, I had to go back and let my sis and Krissy use the seats for Sarah's set.. She was really good, although not nearly as good as Sheryl. I'd probably remember her set more if I hadn't drank 24 oz. of a Sprite/Absolut Citron mix right after Sheryl to calm down.. (I know, not healthy for a 13-year-old, but oh well..) I do remember that she did "I Will Remember You," "Sweet Surrender," "Good Enough," "Bulding A Mystery," and "Ice Cream," and she began with "Possession" and ended with "Angel," all of which I sang along and danced to. The night ended with all the women singing something, I swear I'll remember it as soon as I stop writing. I left with on a complete high which I still have fell off of yet. BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE! Alright, I'll stop ranting. Also, hey Sheryl fans. I just joined the Crew. I've been on it before, a long time ago, but that doesn't matter.. Website for the chat: http://www.msnbc.com/chat/ Date: Thursday, August 5, 1999 Time: 7:30pm EST (4:30pm PST) Duration: 1 hour Moderated: Yes Rock Artist, Sheryl Crow (Globe Sessions) Not many musicians count touring with Michael Jackson a career low. But Sheryl Crow is one of the exceptions. Since having her thigh stroked by a leathery Michael whilst singing back-up to his 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You,' Crow lept from the 'Bad' tour into her own good life, which has so far garnered her a Grammy for best rock album. Chat with her about her latest installment, 'Globe Sessions.' (You know, the one on the cover of which she's got that ever so carefully placed wave trickling down her face.) Ask her about the extra track--a cover of 'Sweet Child O' Mine'--which has just been added to the mix. And find out what she thought of the riotous Woodstock reincarnation. She'll be sitting in for this chat session at MSNBC. [From yack.com] I hope to "see" alot of you there!
