I had a really shitty day if anyone cares, I work at a country club and the grills were swamped because of the rain and all the members that usually eat out on the patio wanted to eat inside. I was all by myself and it was hectic and frustrating and my supervisor was treating me like a trainee-piece-of-shit. That said, I was finished around 9:30 and I decided to turn on the big screen TV to MTV in case there was anything about woodstock. So I was all alone in there cleaning up and setting up for the next day, and as I turned on MTV, there was SHeryl in an interview with JOHN NORRIS. anyway, they talked about how she was excited to see KORN and Sugar Ray, even though they had to cancel. She discussed how she noticed that she was playing on a day that was mostly rap and metal acts, and how that seems to be the direction that rock-n-roll is headed in. She was talking about how beneficial the exposure to a 250,000-person audience is, and how it helps people know you who normally wouldn't care. She said that her drummer looked out into the audience and saw primarily shirtless young white males with tatoos wearing baggy khaki shorts, and how that didn't sound like her core audience. She and John then laughed and he said that they'd probably like to hear Sweet Child and she said maybe she'll have to throw that in. They then cut back to Carson. I was really impressed with it because it was redemption from when she totally bombed when she was on TRL earlier this year. It was really akward and a lame interview. Now I see why they keep John Norris around even though he's a big dork. THE END. DAVID ps. I hope that nobody already wrote about this. If so, sorry. I have the digest version of this mailing list and I haven't gotten the newest edition yet. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 1999 04:51:12 +0100 From: "Nadine" Subject: Re: Other personal songs/Coffee Shop i thought it was "not free" but i dunno i can hardly here the song lol > ALSO--I have a question about one of the lyrics of the song "Coffee > Shop." > ....."I live upstairs w/ 3 other girls & it's (here's the part....)> pot > free...." >>>>>is this the lyric??? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jul 1999 20:02:42 -0800 From: "PoGo" Subject: minus man i can convert to pal now so anyone in the uk who can dub tapes who has the minus man please email me, i have lots to trade!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Jul 1999 02:34:40 -0400 (EDT) From: bluedenim Subject: SHeyrl Woodstock Quote...may be offensive to some I found this funny: > the crowd yelled up to her "show your tits" and she > said " you are gonna have > to pay me alot more money than what you payed for > your tix to see my tits"" === "It's nice to be liked, but it's better by far to get paid" -Liz Phair _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? At least Sheryl had some dignity to joke with the crowd like "is this sort of 'take-off-your-top' day?", but she didn't go so far as to expose herself for pay-per-view. And I just caught MTV's interview w/her afterwards, and the guy screaming "nice pants, Sheryl" was hilarious! I thought her pants were pretty cool.
