I was at Wherehouse Music last nite and saw an ad that read you could get the SCOM single for free if you bought TGS. Of course, I'm not about to buy another copy of TGS and asked the girl about the possibility of her selling me the single. They didn't have any. Ohhhhkk...then why have the ad out? Well, when I get to it, I'm gonna see if slcd.com has any, they usually have cool stuff there. Katie ();) _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It will be released at 7/13. Various Artists: Return of the Grievous Angel: A Tribute to Gram Parsons (Almo Sounds) Sheryl Crow, Lucinda Williams, Beck, Wilco, the Pretenders, Elvis Costello, and his old singing partner Emmylou Harris are among the many artists who take part in this tribute to Gram Parsons, one of alt-country's founding forefathers, reports ICE Magazine. The disc covers different stages of Parsons' career, including his days as a Flying Burrito Brother along with his solo material. The homage contains several interesting duets as well: Harris and Beck ("Sin City"), Harris and Crow ("Juanita"), Gillian Welch and David Rawlings ("Hickory Wind"), Chris Hillman and Steve Earle ("High Fashion Queen"), and Lucinda Williams and David Crosby ("Return of the Grievous Angel"). Harris serves as co-executive producer, as does Paul Kremen, general manager of Almo Sounds. A portion of the disc's proceeds will go to the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation's "Campaign for a Landmine-Free World." Track List 1. The Pretenders ?"She" 2. Christina ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jul 1999 17:35:33 -0400 From: "Christina Clark" Subject: Hurly Burly I watched a movie called Hurly Burly last night (starring Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey, Meg Ryan, and other people I forget their names) At the end they played Sheryl's TGTN, but it was a different version, it had less background music, and the vocals had almost an echo effect to them, it was really cool. The funny thing I found about it was that the music for the film was done by David Baerwald (TNMC ). For those of you who read the Rolling Stone with Sheryl on the cover, it said that the whole LLV, Kevin Gilbert thing started a dispute between the 2 that still divides them to this day (that being Nov 96). I find it interesting that he would choose her song to close the film. It did work very well with the ending, I wonder if it's on the soundtrack, although I doubt there is one, there wasn't much music in the film. I also found it interesting that at the end when it listed the song, it listed everything, who played what, producer, where it was recorded, label. I know they usually put all this stuff but they never list who played what intruments. Another thing I saw today was the Don Henley video "Last Worthless Evening" (I believe this is what it is called) I started watching in the middle of the vid and I got a glimpse of Sheryl in a line of 3 back-up singers ( I wonder if she is in the beginning more). She was in the middle wearing some black tight outfit, with big blond hair (although not as big as the Michael tour lol) I think it was half tied up. I only saw her for a split second, but as averyone with crowdar knows, you can't mistake her. And this was from his End of Innocence album, so it fits! But if you like Beck, Lucinda Williams or any of teh otehr people than it would be worth getting. Sheryl's song is basically really slow ad not very intersting. She duets with Emmylou Harris but the song still doesn't go anywhere, sadly. Well all of her songs can't be great I guess. Even the great ones can't escape mediocrity at times. did anyone go to the First Lilith Fair show today. Judith, there arent two Harinders on the list (to my knowledge), its just me, I'm writing from different addresses, so please let me know how much I owe you, cos I would like to send it tomorrow, ok? Shawn :-) PS to Brooke - maybe we could meet again YEAH we get to see Sheryl again this makes twice in one year i wish we could live through the concert again it was the BEST maybe we could talk a little more this time. well at lilith last year i think each person played for only like an hour (i think its hard to remember)so unfortunatly if each person plays for the same amount of time this year will only be able to see Her for an hour :-( but its better than not seeing Her at all. like i said in the begining of the letter it might be hard for us to meet again unless it at your seet but if u wanna meet somewhere else thats fine w/ me. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jul 1999 22:49:01 -0700 From: "Jessie Burrola" Subject: Re: SCOM single Yes sheryl has 4 in her left ear and 2 in her right. she usualy wears 3 small hoop earings in the upper 3 and a fancy earing in the bottom just thought i'd let you know. Well Miss Record Store Clerk was not very enthusiastic but she did pull off one of the SCOM singles that was rubberbanded to an import of TGTN and handed it to me.
