My names Evan and I own Sheryl's 3 main albums and am going to be seeing her this summer at Lilith, and I've been singing SCOM for 3 days straight. Ok I guess that's enough for now, and now the question. Not being in the UK I don't get to see Sheryl in Maxim magazine so if someone know's of somewhere online with pictures from the magazine and the article I would really appreciate it. As you know us Americans got Michelle Williams on the cover (while I'm certainly not complaining because she looks pretty darn good she's definetely no Sheryl). Thanks. The Minus Man follows the fortunes of a serial killer who chooses victims he believes want to die - and Crow's character Caspar is the first to die thanks to his twisted compassion. In the scene of Caspar / Crow's 'death' Crow is pictured slumped over a toilet with a needle stuck in her arm - an image which has caused outrage in the US. Crow is keeping quiet about her motivation for taking the role, but as a recovering drug and alcohol addict, she could well be making rather unsubtle anti-drugs statement. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Jul 1999 00:57:24 +0100 From: "Nadine" Subject: Re: OH MY GOD WHO HAS SKY PREMIER wahoooo i have it thanks for the info judith cant wait to see that lol ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Jul 1999 19:57:04 EDT From: SCFANCLUB2@aol.com Subject: Movies and Clapton First, from Rolling Stone.com: A release date has been set for Sheryl Crow's feature film debut. The Minus Man, the directorial debut of Blade Runner producer/co-screenwriter Hampton Fancher, is set for release by indie-production company The Shooting Gallery in New York and Los Angeles on September 10 and nationwide on September 24. The film also stars Owen Wilson, Janeane Garofalo and Dwight Yoakam. Last year, Yoakam told RollingStone.com that he will play a detective, but otherwise remained tight-lipped about the film. The Shooting Gallery is equally hushed about the flick, which debuted at Sundance earlier this year. A statement by the company described the film as "a darkly witty and disquieting look at what can lie beneath the surface of normality," and described Crow's character simply as "a woman on the wrong path" . . . From Associate Press: Clapton Concert Raises Funds By KAREN SCHWARTZ .c The Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) - The concert was billed as Eric Clapton and Friends, and for 3 1/2 hours, Clapton, David Sanborn, Sheryl Crow, Mary J. Blige and Bob Dylan gave the crowd what they wanted. There was no warm-up band, no fancy set, no special effects inside Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, just a half-dozen or so musicians on a flat white stage, playing what amounted to a pleasing string of greatest hits. The surprise of the evening was the appearance of Sanborn, who hadn't been named as a guest. He was brought on early and played through most of the concert, showing that he can do for the sax what Clapton can do for the guitar. His masterful skill during a rendition of ``Little Wing'' clearly delighted Clapton and Crow. And so it was, friends on stage. At times Clapton took center stage. Just as often, he stepped back, away from the microphone and played his guitar. As Crow quipped, ``It isn't bad having Eric on back-up.'' This was not an evening for egos. At various points, Clapton shared the microphone with Crow and Dylan. He and Dylan sang ``Crossroads,'' but not ``All Along the Watchtower. And the entire entourage, minus Blige who didn't reappear for the encore, ended the show by singing ``Bright Lights, Big City.'' The sold-out concert, with tickets priced from $35 to $250, was to raise money for the Crossroads Centre, a residential drug and alcohol treatment facility founded in 1997 on the island of Antigua by Clapton, who has himself fought drug and alcohol addiction. The concert will be shown on cable station VH1 on July 27. I haven't heard one bit of info about Minus Man at all here, and if I were'nt on the list I wouldn't even know she was going to be in it. Showing her dying of an overdose, now how is that outrageous? I've seen movies with guts hanging out, people shot in the head, but Sheryl slumped over w/ a heroin needle is outrageous? It's not an image I would like to see , but it's a movie, and people need to realize that. Another thing since when is she a recovering drug addict? I know she tried acid that one time and it's implied she smoked pot, so that makes her a drug adddict now? And her playing a junkie is somehow her saying it's okay to do heroin?? She dies from it for God's sake how is that supposed to be an approval? I just hate when the media twists the facts to makestories more interesting. Heh okay rant over, but now it's a TV movie? Owen Wilson leaves an indelible impression as Vann, a Canadian drifter whose M.O. combines winning smile, pleasantly dim manner and a flask of poison-laced Armaretto. While obviously not for the "Scream" brigade, the picture is compelling and creepy enough to become a sleeper on the art-house circuit, provided handlers mine strong reviews and inevitable word-of-mouth. Rocker Sheryl Crow in a gutsy film debut will also boost box office returns. The picture opens with harmless-seeming Vann heading out on the highway, where he finds an asthmatic junkie (Crow) screaming to be put out of her misery. Vann obliges. Crimes to come play out as variations on this opening murder: Vann's victims cry out for intercession. All he has to do is patiently wait and listen for the next victim to announce him- or herself. Garofalo and Ruehl lend strong support as unsuspecting women in Vann's life; Dennis Haysbert and C&W star Dwight Yoakam are the dogged dream-cops; and Crow, who mainlines in her debut, suggests she has what it takes to be the next big music-to-movies crossover.
