There's a book called "Solo: women singer-songwriters in their own words," written by Marc Woodworth (photos by Emma Dodge Hanson). The book has chapters on twenty or so female singer-songwriters, including Sheryl, Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Suzanne Vega, Cassandra Wilson and a whole bunch more. Each chapter is a short biography written by the artist. I got the book last year, and highly recommend it. It's very well written; the stories are interesting and diverse. The photos are excellent and have make the artists look very soft and comfortable. I lean in that direction, though I would be pleasantly surprised to actually see a single in stores on Tuesday. In fact, I hope there is something new to buy Tuesday. I just find it a little hard to believe that CDNOW or any of the other places other than Tower would fail to have a pre-order option for something that is being released in 3 days.
