I can only make cassettes myself (I can't afford a >burner), but I offer 2 cassette recordings for every 1 CDR. Or if you >prefer money, I'll pay up to $6 for a 1CD recording. I debated getting in on this subject the first time it went around, but now feel I need to throw my .02 worth in. How did you come to the decision that making a profit is bad, and why is the ceiling $5? An original radio broadcast CD of the Trinity Sessions sells for $125 - 175. If someone buys that show for said price, no one else can decide for that person what he/she should charge if they are willing to make you a copy. $15 might be too expensive for you, but it is certainly better than $150. I don't know of one collectible record store that will let you go in and make copies of their $150 albums for the $6 you would like to pay. CDR burners are not cheap. Why should someone buy one for the purpose of making *you* copies for cost? I went out and spent over $1000 on buying a nice DAT and microphones for the express purpose of recording Sheryl's shows. Then I also went out and bought a CDR burner to make copies for trading to people. That's a pretty large investment that I made to try and make the best possible recordings for my and the people I trade withs' benefit. And trading 2 cassettes for a CD doesn't make sense (though I am willing to do it when the master source is a cassette tape), the optical cables I use to transfer the recordings will sure do a lot better job than the serious sound degradation that comes from cassette copies. I'm not sure where you get the idea that bootlegging is supposed to be inexpensive. Yes, making a cassette copy of a store bought CD might be, but actually doing it yourself can be a very costly matter (not to mention that you run the risk of your investment being confiscated if you are caught at a show). My preference is always to trade for shows I don't have, but barring that I am willing to sell a copy of a show I recorded, and I have yet to have anyone that's gotten one complain about the quality or the price. On a related note, I finally have the bare bones of Sheryl Recorded Concert List up and running. I have a list of every show that I know she has played (haven't finished updating this past month yet), and a seperate list of every show that I know has been recorded. If you are interested in such things, you can check it out at: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Show/8765/ Of course if you have any additional dates to add, please let me know. thanks, Sean Linkenback ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 May 1999 18:25:40 EDT From: FadedSign@aol.com Subject: OFF: TGTN TAblature/Chords does anyone have the chords or tab for TGTN? I mean, I don't think it's fair to Sheryl that some of you are recording her shows w/out permission... I mean, sure, fans do deserve to listen to her music and all...... you know, all the stuff that she does at concerts,......rarities...... but I personally prefer to hear them *in person* at the concert. I also like the fact that on some of her US singles (when they're actually available)....have live versions from concerts on them......that's cool..... Any who......this was just a thought......any dissagreements are definitely OKAY......I understand completely! THanks for reading.......... I heard a song of Patty's this summer and I thought it was new Sheryl (this was before I knew about MFM, like in early july,) because all I knew was she had a new album coming out soon and this song sounded so Crowish! Patty totally rocks. I've also heard that the singer from Marry Me Jane sounds like Sheryl, and from the pics I've seen she kinda, kinda looks a bit similar too.Yeah that's 'bout all Pattie :o) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 May 1999 09:54:13 +0800 From: Harinder_GREWAL@MCD.gov.sg Subject: Re: Beautiful Stranger & T-shirt Warner Singapore pre-released it to one radio station here. That album proves that TNMC's success is no fluke. There seems to be less pressure for her to perform as compared to GS. I'm just wondering because I think it would be a great idea to have one around. It would maybe help cut down on some of the offtopic stuff posted on here, or stuff that doesn't apply to everyone, like who's interested in trading and people selling stuff, etc. I was checking alt.config on how to write a proposal and i wouldn't mind writing one if i thought it had a chance. So that's where the question comes in, because if others have tried and it failed I don't want to go through the headache. (heh have you seen the guides for making up a propsal? damn!) Well it's just a suggestion, You can write me privately if you have any comments or anything cause i don't want to disturb the list...Thanks :) ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V2 #154 *********************************
