Someone DID print some T-shirts for the list, about a year or two ago(?). I have one I wore to the show in VA. Its got a picture of Sheryl kind of hunkered down on her knees, with her signature over top of it, and says "Sheryl Crow Net List" underneath it (this was before someone suggested the witty "Sheryl Crew" name for the list). I can't remember anymore who it was that made them for us, but "thanks" if you're still on the list. Maybe its time for an updated "Sheryl Crew" version. As far as the rest of this thread goes, I can appreciate Jason's position. I would give anything to meet Sheryl "on her own terms," as it were, if she wanted to meet me, but I personally just would totally feel as if I was imposing on her if I crowded around her after a show asking for an autograph. Even though I know its in her job description. I can't help it, that's just the way I feel. Her position on bootlegs is very well known, and I would love to sit down and argue the point with her, especially since, IMHO, she is one of those artists who is much better live than in the studio. In fact, I NEVER listen to TNMC, because I don't like the studio versions of most of those songs, but I love them in concert and on bootlegs. Although, I have to admit, I wouldn't have released the unreleased CD either! I can't blame her for not wanting those versions of those songs out in public :~) anyway, that's my ha'penny worth of opinions for the day. A fan collects the music, no matter what volume and enjoys the music and the artist. A "superfan" is one whose love of the artist verges on obsession. These people are the quickest to come back with the "you're not a *real* fan" response. I look at myself as a regular fan. - --Michael ****************************************************************************** "...And I hear them saying 'You'll never change things, And no matter what you do it's still the same thing.' Because I'm one of those though I have no intention to go see Woodstock :). I have seen Lilith two years in a row, and both of which had Sheryl's name at least when I bouhgt the ticket :(. I'd like to see concerts of my favorite artists in their mother country(especially if they are more popular than in other countries). And it's best if the place has somewhat connection to them. That's why I saw Hall & Oates in NY, Sheryl in Las Vegas and Beautiful South in UK(well it's cancelled but...) among others. And you can feel the better atmosphere in most cases. Hope you can successfully get tickets for them. What do you think?? That would be a great Sheryl attention geter I seriously wouldn't mind someone coming up with T-shirt design and paying like $10 for it. Tell me what you think guys :) PS: I know this sounds juvenile but I hate it when the crew gets in disagreements, if you have a heated topic why not email the person privately. Wow all this is getting out of hand :) First of all, I don't feel that I was personally attacking anyone. In fact when I read Jason's first message, I felt as if he was attacking people who tried to get Sheryl's autograph or meet her after a show or whatever. Maybe I'm wrong but the feeling I got was that he was saying we were all crazy and that we should feel ashamed for trying to meet her or something. I completely agree that there are times when it is terrible to impose on Sheryl, but how can you say it's imposing when she's walking towards you with a sharpie in her hand? Apparently she somewhat enjoys signing autographs after her shows, and what's wrong with trying to get one? What I think is happening here is miscommunication. Everyone's attacking Michele thinking what she's saying is that fans should just walk up to her any old time and they deserve backstage passes. She never said that once and if you read her messages again you'll see that. Everyone is getting of on this tangent that asking Sheryl for an autograph is imposing on her. Well we're not Sheryl so how can we know truly if it bothers her or not? The fact that she agrees to interact with her fans shows what a great person she really is. If she never did any of this stuff don't you think her reputation would suffer? One more quick point. I remeber reading one of the messages saying that you wouldn't just walk up to someone and say hi. But think about it, people do that everyday. You've never stopped to pet a stranger's dog or causually said hi in passing? I was at an art show and the artist was sitting out by her work, and I told her how much i enjoyed it. She thanked me and was more than happy to discuss it with me. What I'm saying is that if the artist makes themself available then I don't think it can truly be considered imposing. If everyone took that stance then Sheryl never would have gotten her birthday books or letters from the crew...and if I recall correctly there were quite a few letters. Now I think Jason's position is fine, and in some points I totally agree, and I myself realize Sheryl is a human being with a family and friends, and that she needs her private life. Maybe we disagree about walking up to her in public, heck I don't know if I would or wouldn't because I haven't had the opportunity, and I'd probably be to scared to do anything :) But I don't think that innocently walking up to her and saying hi should make a person feel guilty or bad for "imposing" on Sheryl. Ok that being said, I know we'll never agree on this so let's just agree to disagree and enjoy Sheryl's music together :) Ok now this is completely different but I was in Sam Goody yesterday and had a look at the billboard charts. In case anyone was wondering, The Globe Sessions was around #76 (I think) and ABD was #57 on the hot 100 singles. ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V2 #144 *********************************
