Among the artists rumored to appear at the fest are Aerosmith, Sheryl Crow, Korn, Metallica, Alanis Morissette, Limp Bizkit, Hole, Marilyn Manson, Counting Crows, Bush, Ice Cube, Sugar Ray, and--perhaps the most stunning--the new lineup of Guns N' Roses. thanks bye alice ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Apr 1999 10:41:49 EDT From: Tak181B@aol.com Subject: Re: impatiently awaiting woodstock When do tickets go onsale and how do you go abotu getting them? Dave Matthews Band, Jewel, The foo fighters, Underworld, THe offspring, & Brian Setzer orchestra have been invited but haven't confirmed it yet.. Fat boy Slim, DMX, The Tragically hip and live were also mentioned as possible artitsts. Sounds like a decent lineup, but I really don't like that Korn & Limp Bizkit are going to be there. I'm not into their music, and some of their fans are quite immature and think anyting but Korn sucks. Also it mentioned that the organizers want to have a woodstock every 5 years, which I think kind of takes away some of the importance of the original, but maybe that's just my opinion. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Apr 1999 15:09:11 -0400 From: Brooke James Subject: Re: impatiently awaiting woodstock Hey Alice!!! Most blues begin "woke up this morning." 2. "I got a good woman" is a bad way to begin the blues, unless you stick something nasty in the next line. I got a good woman- with the meanest dog in town. 3. Blues are simple. After you have the first line right, repeat it. Then find something that rhymes. Sort of. Got a good woman with the meanest dog in town. He got teeth like Margaret Thatcher and weighs about 500 pounds. 4. The blues are not about limitless choice. 5. Blues cars are Chevies and Cadillacs. Other acceptable blues transportation is Greyhound bus or a southbound train. Walkin' plays a major part in the blues lifestyle. So does fixin' to die. 6. Teenagers can't sing the blues. Adults sing the blues. Blues adulthood means old enough to get the electric chair if you shoot a man in Memphis. 7. You can have the blues in New York City, but not in Brooklyn or Queens. Hard times in Vermont, North Dakota, or Silicon Valley don't count--they are merely another type of depression. Chicago, New Orleans, St. Louis and Kansas City are still the best places to have the blues. 8. The following colors do not belong in the blues: a. violet b. beige c. mauve 9. You can't have the blues in an office or a shopping mall; the lighting is wrong. 10. Good places for the Blues: a. the highway b. the jailhouse c. the empty bed Bad places: a. Neimans b. Gallery openings c. weekend in the Hamptons d. Pebble Beach 11. Do you have the right to sing the blues? Yes, if: a. your first name is a southern state--like Georgia b. you're blind c. you shot a man in Memphis. d. you can't be satisfied. e. your baby done left you No, if: a. you were once blind but now can see. b. you're deaf c. you have a trust fund. 12. Neither Julio Iglesias nor Barbra Streisand can sing the blues. 13. If you ask for water and baby gives you gasoline, it's the blues. Other blues beverages are: a. wine b. Irish whiskey c. muddy water Blues beverages are NOT: a. Any mixed drink b. Any wine kosher for Passover c. a low fat mocha latte from Starbucks d. anything by Odwalla 14. If it occurs in a cheap motel or a shotgun shack, it's blues death. Stabbed in the back by a jealous lover is a blues way to die. So is the electric chair, substance abuse, or being denied treatment in an emergency room. It is not a blues death, however, if you die during a liposuction treatment. 15. Some Blues names for Women a. Sadie b. Big Mama c. Bessie d. Marie 16. Some Blues Names for Men a. Joe b. Willie c. Little Willie d. Lightning Persons with names like Jennifer, Sierra, or Sequoia will not be permitted to sing the blues no matter how many men they shoot in Memphis. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Apr 1999 17:50:04 EDT From: SkimdStone@aol.com Subject: kinda OFF (Tim Smith bands) Tim is in a band with Rob Aldridge (?not quite sure..Ron, Rob?) called Umajets. Is anyone out there looking to trade Sheryl's Live or Rare stuff? I can only do trades in CD-R, and if you don't have one, get one, it will be one of the best thing you'll ever buy. I can suggest you some good writer around $300. They're so nice now, you can copy a whole CD in 20 minutes! I live near New York, so I can get alot of Bootlegs, but they are so damn expensive. The double CD one cost me $60. I know there's alot out there that I don't have, you know, "As the Crow Flys", "Even Angels Rock", "Live from Las Vagas" AND PLEASE DO NOT ask me to sell you the copies. That would be just wrong. I have most of her singles and they all come with live or unreleased songs, but I can't trade those. If you want them, please goto a store and buy them. I know for some of them, you might have to fly to UK, but since Sheryl released it, she would want you to buy them. I'm only looking to do one for one trades of her live or rare stuff. Can't Cry Anymore (live) - - Everyone knows this one. She made it with Sting's producer but A&M thought it wasn't commercial enough, so they scrapped it. The last three tracks are throw on tracks who ever made this put on. "Hundreds of Tears" was later relased on the movie soundtrack, "Point Break". She also gave "All Kinds of People" to Tina Turner. It's on Tina's "Wildest Dreams" album. I don't understand why A&M scrapped it, it's my favorite Sheryl Album. It's so good, I made a copy for the house, car and work. It's very rock-ish, kinda like her second album, "Sheryl Crow". I guess she toned it down and recorded Tuesday Night. - -------------------------------------------------- Sunday Night at the Paradiso (Amsterdam - 10/3/96) Disk One 1. Hard to Make a Stand 2. This is from her tour when she was promoting her "Sheryl Crow" album. She talks to the crowed about the new shoes she bought, how she doesn't really watch the X-Files, but she gave the song "On the Outside". The song "Sway" is a Rolling Stones cover.
