I will pay money... lots of money. Well, not LOTS, but a good amount. OK thats all. It underlies the same laws as the original record. (This is similar to software, wher you're allowed to make backups of original soft) all the crap about the 24hrs is absolute nonsense. That's simply theft. Turn it, twist it, it is. But (there is always a "but"). MP3s are the best way for distribution of rare tracks. That's simply the truth. I undestand, that the rec. companies are trying to make money, but they have to acknowledge that there always were and will be bootlegs and illegal copies of their products. MP3 are going to accelerate it, but that's evolution baby. Plus I don't see why someone is angry about making not x millions but x/2 millions. That's still a lot of money. Yes, I own some MP3's and I know that it's illegal, but I also have like 95% of my software illegal so... Companies are trying to cut mp3 distribution down, but I think they will fail. People will spread them like the plaque. that's the deal. I know is cruel, I wouldn't like to see it done with my work either, but that's the way it is. No law is going to change it. (btw, it's illegal even to borrow records to someone else, and let me hear you, how many of you guys did obey this law? hugh?) For those who don't know how MP3 works: it's a compression of audio signal based on filtering out sounds that our ear is (likely) to ignore. That works fine in theory, and you can achieve a 1:10 compress ratio with a "CD-like" quality, but the fact is, that CD will remain CD. Try to run MP3 (typically sampled at 128kbs) and the original and you will see. This was a little sharp mail, but that's how I see it. ~Dolphin - -The Truth Is The Lie We Believe In- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Mar 1999 16:33:40 -0600 From: Patrick Fink Subject: Going To see Sheryl I am going to see Sheryl in Starkville, MS on March 23 ,1999. Yes, I got one of those postcards in the mail about a month ago. I wrote away for her autograph about a year ago and that's what they sent me. I'm going to see Sheryl on the 2nd of April at the Pantages, and also on the 7th of April in Santa Barbara! Finally! Just a quick question: Does anyone know how I could meet Sheryl and possibly get her autograph? I've heard that she signs autographs at the end of her shows. I went to a Tori Amos concert this past summer and the crowd was so big after the show that I didn't get anything signed. I've also heard that people get things signed at radio stations when an artist comes to town, at their hotel room, or the morning before the show. Is any of this possible? - -Jason ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Mar 1999 11:58:57 -0500 From: "Pattie Phillips" Subject: hellos Hellos! Hi all! I live just outside Toronto and I'm sure Christina has already told you all of our little adventure in November at HMV and Sheryl's autograph session so I'll spare you all the details again. If there is where can it be found? Or could someone mail it my way. For what its worth, as far as I know this isn't on CD, but has been done at some of her concerts. I do of course have Jeff's version on the Grace CD. What your friends are telling you about Camden is probably true..it IS the armpit of the world. However, where the show will be has alot of security people..so you're safe there. Definitely under NO circumstances stay IN Camden. I'm not sure where you're coming from to go to the show..but if you know someone who has AAA, they should be able to help you find a place nearby that's in a safe place. I would say calling AAA is your best bet. I'm sure they will be able to help you. There is one bridge that takes you back into PA, but right on the other side is the middle of Philly, so you may not want to go that way..probably somewhere in Jersey would be better, especially if you're not familiar with Philly..it's pretty tricky there. If you need anymore help just let me know! I'll be more than happy to help, because you know I can't let a Sheryl fan get in any trouble..:-) Take Care, Dave ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Mar 1999 22:09:38 -0500 From: "Tanja-Tiziana Burdi" Subject: Re: hellos WELCOME to another Canadian!
