I've been playing the acoustic guitar for about 3 years, I'm not that great though i've never taken formal lessons but luckily i have played musical instruments since i was 8 years old so i know how music works and how to read it and eveything so that makes palying different instrumantes easier i guess. i only started playing music with other people this past year b/c i was so nervous and un-confident playing in front of people but i have to strongly encourage anyone who really wants to learn how to play to play with other musicians who are better than you, it's intimidating at first but they can probably teach you a lot of cool techniques that you'll neer see in books. i just started playing the bass guitar this winter and i bought my own about a month ago. it's a used Yamaha that i found at a pawn shop but it works and it's good to learn on. someday I'd like to get a nice Fender bass though. my acoustic guitar is about 30 years old, my dad used to play it in the late 60s/early 70's. so i guess it's vintage now. my friend has a fender though and it's so awesome, the feel and the sound is incredible compared to mine. i only know My favorite mistake and members only on bass but i know a lot of sheryl songs on my acoustic guitar-the first song i ever learned was If It Makes You Happy.
