'97 I got totally into music and got the self-titled album and really liked it. I got TGS the week it came out and 2 weeks ago I finally got TNMC. I'm going to see her for the first time in a few weeks, although I *really* wish I could've seen her in February '97 in Pensacola, I mean Sheryl, and to top it off, the opening band was the Wallflowers and they played this awesome new song called "Halo" (check my email and you'll see why it was doubly torturous for me to hear about this concert :) Oh and my favorite video is Home, I love that video if only I had gotten to record it! And now, I think I should at least start on some stuff. I have a pair of python cowboy boots that I feel kinda funny about since I really like snakes -- but people wear leather, and that's a cow, so, well... the question is, I'm going to be in Texas for a big music festival later this month and was thinking that if I could wear those boots anywhere, it'd be in Texas; but, I'm not sure -- are snake-skin cowboy boots considered stylin' there? or tacky? or what? I'm lookin' for any advice from anyone with more fashion/style sense than me, which probably includes almost everyone in the Sheryl Crew! and in a general way -- what's cool mens footwear and what's not?! thanks! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Mar 1999 18:21:22 EST From: MacTeabird@aol.com Subject: (OFF) International Space Station Here is the latest on the station if anybodys curious? T-bird - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 1999 Report # 09 2 p.m. CST, Wednesday, March 3, 1999 Mission Control Center, Houston, Texas This week aboard the International Space Station, commands were received from ground controllers in Houston and Moscow demonstrating that commands could be sent to the Zarya control module through the Unity node's communications system from Russia's Mission Control Center. While system commanding continues, all other systems remain in excellent condition as engineers monitor the station's health through Russian gound stations and NASA's satellite tracking network. These command and control functions of the Zarya control module are monitored through telemetry downlinks through the Early Communications System housed aboard the Unity node. Specific command sequences continue to be tested through this system to assist with general commanding capability, and to wring out configuration issues on the ground while training flight controllers in commanding that could be required in contingency situations. Additionally this week, battery charge cycling continued in order to balance power consumption on board. As during previous weeks, the controlled spin of the station continues to be monitored and fine-tuned as necessary to manage temperatures of the overall complex. The International Space Station is in an orbit with a high point of 256 statute miles and a low point of 242 statute miles. It's circling the Earth once every 92 minutes, 24 seconds. ISS viewing opportunities from the ground can be found on the internet at: http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/ The next Space Shuttle mission of Discovery to visit the station is targeted for launch May 20. The flight's objectives are to deliver interior supplies and U.S. and Russian cranes to be installed on the station's exterior. Updates on orbiter processing can be found in the Kennedy Space Center's shuttle status report located on the internet at: http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov/kscpao/status/status.htm The next International Space Station status report is planned to be issued on Wednesday, March 10, 1999. Yup, Torontonian here. Frustrated isn't the word! I haven't been to a concert since Lilith in August (and Sheryl wasn't even there), and when I saw the first postings of SC tour dates I got excited, only to be let down that she's decided not cross over Niagara this time round! Well, not yet that is. Where was I sitting in '97? Haha... I had waiting in line hours for tickets and had bought partial view ones on the side of the stage. When I got there, they weren't partial view at all. Still, I wasn't happy, so when the concert started and everyone in the audience just SAT there, my friends and I decided that this was a freakin rock concert and we were gonna sit on our fannies, so we got up and went to stand (and dance) right in front of the stage-- in front of Sheryl! The security guards tried to get us to go back to our seats cuz the people in front row, behind us, were complaining. Sheryl stood up for us and waved the guards off, which was awesome, and that's when she said that "shake your ass" line. Sorry, I've really gone on here haven't I? hehe... i'll stop now. My friend who was with me went up to the front, at the time I was only about 5'2 and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to see anything so I stayed at my seat. I had waited too long to not be able to see anything, but I understand your situation. On the fan forum, I posted the idea of having a pre-concert dinner with other fans to get all psyched up, what do you think? Are you interested? I believe so far I only have 5 other people. My last concert was Lilith too! Did you go to the one with Liz Phair? She rocked, I met her. I really want to see Rufus Wainright next week but I'm at school and can't get there!!!!! I am a student at Brock University just south of Toronto Canada. I didn't really get into Sheryl's music until IIMYH, although I did like LLV and SE. I really disliked AIWD, now I can listen to it when it comes on the radio because it's Sheryl, but I won't listen to it on my cd. That really is the only song I don't like aside from Solidify. I have never liked one artist where all their music appeals to me, it's weird. I have seen her in concert once in March '97 at Massey Hall on TO, I saw her in the much music environment that same day (Only 20 people were allowed in), I met her in Nov.98 at an autograph session at HMV, I was first person in line, I waited 9 hours. When I met her I was so nervous I didn't say anything I was terrified. I then ran about ten blocks to see her at a radio station she was playing at and I was one of 2 people allowed in (more people are usually allowed in , but the station was being renovated so the interview was in a trailer.) That was a cool experience because you got to see how she acted in commercials. At one time her contact fell out and she could'nt get it back in so she sat it down on a Rolling Stone mag beside her. It had a picture of Busta Rhymes on it and she said " I'll just sit my contact on......(she's looking for his name).....B..Busta's? face. She had no idea who he was, it was a funny situation. I plan on working in the music industry after I graduate, it is my plan to help musicians like Sheryl who have a spectrum of musical talent (writing, playing and singing) and I will help them grow as performers as people should be allowed to do. A&M were my idols, they did this the best, but they are no longer existent so I will try to carry on a tradition of a smaller label who supports their acts and doesn't just care about how many billions they can make for them. So that's my life story! Another thing, do any of you have the tablature for "Am I Getting Through" ? Anyway, I play guitar, a Washburn semi-acoustic (model C64CE), and an Ovation 12 string. My dream guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Premium, but since it starts at $2400 there's no way I'll get one.
