She also gave a sincere acceptance speech, thanking A&M Records (which recently closed its doors in the mammoth Polygram/ Universal merger) for all they've done. [snip] Best Rock Album: Sheryl Crow, The Globe Sessions [snip] - Carrie Borzillo _______________________________________________ Grammy Award Winners, Performers, Presenters Speak Out Backstage [snip] * Best Rock Album winner Sheryl Crow discussed her concerns about the state of the music industry today. On the aftermath of the recent PolyGram/ Universal merger, she said, "I think it's going to change the music business entirely. We're going to see a lot of independent labels crop up, which can be good." However, she said she fears that the major labels won't spend as much time developing artists. She wanted to win a Grammy this night to mark the end of an era with her record label, A&M, which was folded in the merger. "It's closure for me, closure of my record label," said Crow. "I'm sort of a poster child for my label, and it's the end of an era. It was nice to stand up and say this belongs to the people who were there for me and watched me grow." On the MP3 issue, Crow said she has "deep concerns" that it will "do away with the album in general... Sheryl won for best rock album!!! OMG, There Goes The Neighborhood was the best performance! everything was perfect: sheryl's voice and bass, the drums, the guitars... BTW, who is the blonde guitarrist? he kicks ass! everything was amazing A newspaper here didn't like the fact that sheryl won for Best Rock album... they said TGS is just another "country" album and if sheryl songs are considered rock, then celine dion's songs can be considered heavy metal! They even gave sheryl another award: Persuasion of the year, for trying to convince lauryn hill to produce her next album. I got SO ANGRY when i read it!!! sheryl was just joking, as she always does! they take everything too seriously here! And who do they think they are to judge sheryl songs? they don't know anything about her. They must be like all those stupid guys who just know Sheryl that sheryl exists 'cause they heard of AIWD, IIMYH and MFM and then think they can judge her! sorry people... i was really nervous, i had to say it. Hey, i know most of you are going to see some concerts of sheryl tour. I'd like to ask something: could anyone buy a t-shirt and a poster of sheryl world tour for me? i'm asking it 'cause i'm almost sure she won't come to brazil (damn it, i got so sad) and i would love to have these things... i can pay you, or even trade for sheryl stuff. well, i wrote a lot, sorry take care Run,Mariana, run ;) - -- "Next song is called It Don't Hurt. Tie the recorder to your leg. 2. Strap it to your torso somehow and wear a coat, ,jacket, etc. 3. Shove it down the front of your pants or put it in your back pocket and tie a sweater, jacket, etc. around your waste. 4. If you are fortunate enough to go with a female companion, and if she is agreeable, put it in a make-up bag of some sort and bury it in the bottom of her purse. 5. Know someone who works the door that will let you sneak in anything you want ;) Also, you should always be sure to use good batteries, two brand new (high quality) 90 minute audio tapes and clean and demagnetize your tape heads for best possible quality. When it becomes time to flip tape #1 over, pick a spot about 40-45 minutes into the show (no more than that) where there is a break between songs. You will have to do this again when you switch from tape #1 to #2 to record the last part of the show. You will only lose about 5-10 seconds of the show each time if you do it in a calm and relaxed manner. Good luck!
