Anyway, the song was not written by Mitchell Froom, it was produced by him The song was written by Sheryl alone, I also know this from an interview she did in the UK a while back when she said she wrote it herself, AND guess what? she had to write it without seeing the film first! its true, the bond 'men in suits' made her write it with no inspiration from the film at all, well just thoughht i would share that info.. bye .TOM. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Dec 1999 01:20:24 PST From: "Johanna Galarte" Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Fw: Divas 2000 Only a SPECIAL GUEST! The original is much better. She tried to make it too ballad-y, and it just didn't work. She could have rocked it, easily, and I personally think it would have come out better if she had. In spite of the words, its just the nature of that song that it needs to rock. I have thought it ironic too that ever since her version came out, I hear the original on the radio constantly, but never hear her version. Anyway, back to work... ____________________ Chris Smith Editor, ThriftINVESTOR Magazine a publication of SNL Securities LC phone: 202/347-2127 facsimile: 202/347-5278 cellular: 202/669-2166 email: CSmith@snl.com ------------------------------ Date: 3 Dec 99 01:56:25 +0900 From: "Takuji Shimoda" Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Fw: Divas 2000 Hello crew, I agree with Martin and think this lineup is very good. It seems like this year’s lineup has gone "classic". Most of these people are from 60s and 70s. They are true ARTISTS and people have enormous respect for these artists. These are not the everyday singers who goes away after few hits. Every single one will be in Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Cyndi Lauper is sort of questionable, but Bonnie Rait?, she's a legend, isn't she in it already? Stevie Nicks, how many solos and Fleetwood albums has she sold? Before you say that they are “lower quality” do a little research. Find out who they are. Do you really know what band Grace Slick comes from? (She was huge in 60s) Anyways, I see how VH1 created the lineup. The original lineup are legends and the special guest are almost like “soon to be” legends. Melissa looks up to Bonnie and we all know that Sheryl looks up to Stieve. I have a question regarding Annie Lennox, isn’t she already a legend? I really don’t understand the term “Diva”. Isn’t diva like a vocal artist? Singers like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston are big because they have good singing voice. I don’t think this year’s lineup is Diva, they are more like “rock” stars. P.S. I read on an interview that Sheryl didn't really dig the idea of this Diva shows. She said that the last one, they were basically screaming each other out. - --- Martin Havlicek wrote: > Ahoj, > I disagree with that. Thought it would be cool to share some Sheryl stories too. :) 1.) Rate Sheryl's albums in order of your preference. TGS, SC, TNMC 2.) What's your least favorite Liz song? We Do What We Can (depends on my mood) 3.) What song would you request of her in concert? Volvo Cowgirl, TND!!!!! 4.) What song would you prefer not to hear in concert? N/A 5.) What's your favorite Sheryl soundtrack song? Resuscitation, TND 6.) What's your fave Sheryl Web site to visit? Paradise 7.) What artist do you think is most similar to Sheryl? I usually try not to compare artists, but my mom mentioned Liz Phair. *raises eyebrow* 8.) How have you fared in attempts to "convert" others to the glories (hee, hee) of Sheryl? Um, yeah. After dragging my mom to two Sheryl concerts, she sure as hell like Sheryl! :) TGS is gonna be her X-Mas gift this year. Anyone else, I've been unsuccessful. Liz Phair is similar....but not enough, although she does front a band, play guitar, is a prolific songwriter, female....but her music is very different. That's about as close as I can come. I really don't like drawing comparisons either. 8.) How have you fared in attempts to "convert" others to the glories (hee, hee) of Sheryl? I've converted about 4 people into Sheryl fans!!!
