"Straight To The Moon" has a completely different vibe to "Resuscitation" (IMHO, anyway) - it's kinda like "Call Me Al" in style. I want to create a section on my page dedicated to her band, including her very first one if possible, or any other collaborator. So, who can help me? Don't e-mail me privately, I think this is a subject that the whole Crew is interested in. Whoever helps me will be credited on my page as a thank you. Words cannot express how awe-stricken I was when I put this CD in my stereo the night I got it and put on my headphones and took a listen. Jewel's voice has NEVER been better, and it brings out emotions in you that you never thought you had. The CD start out with a loud choir singing Joy To The World. The song carries on sweetly, and Jewel adds her little improv spins on it near the end. O Holy Night is probably one of the "best of the best". Again, her voice sent chills up my spine when she sang "fall on your knees.." All of the other traditional songs were done very gracefully, not straying too far away from the original while adding a little Jewel flavor, especially on "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing". Now, let's get to what earns this CD five stars! "Face Of Love": WOW. That's really the only way to put it. It's such a sweet love ballad, with the most amazing lyrics: "Take my hand knowing with it I also give my heart wanting never to be seperate again.. let eternity begin" and "If you were a flame I would allow myself to be consumed completely" are just some examples. You can literally feel the warmth in her voice. The Gospel Medley made me dance. There, I said it. I couldn't help myself. Jewel's voice floats above everything and rips your heart out.. Now, let's talk about the last song: the Christmas version of "Hands." Now, please don't think 'CHRISTMAS VERSION?! What the h$%^ was she thinking??' It is an absolutely awesome version, with just a lil touch of Christmas spirit in it. She changes things around just enough to make it sound completely new, yet familiar all the same. And when she holds "they are my own," you know whoever came along with the idea for the CD struck gold. 'Nuff said. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Nov 1999 15:05:05 -0800 (PST) From: Easter Subject: [sheryl-crew] Re: sheryl-crew-digest V2 #375 Sorry, I'll have to admit that with the discussion of Sheryl's height, I kept hearing Liz Phair's song, 6'1" in my head. So weird, I think I'm too short standing at 5'9". *yelp* Amanda wrote: If you could spend a week with Sheryl and her band what would you do and where would you go??? No exceptions, I'd probably take her to Disney World. Sad in some way cuz I cannot stand this theme park, let alone, haven't been there in about seven years or so. What else is there in Orlando? Too many theme parks, I'd be broke. Who's paying by the way? ;) Now for a question that popped into my head. Ever wondered what Sheryl would be writing right now? Or wondered if she's one of these people who is effected by weather changing and possibly could be writing dark stuff right now? I've thought of this myself since I write a lot and try not to write too much during the winter since the writing can be depressing. Rambling thoughs before I go: I like Rescucitation more than I do Straight to the Moon. And my fave Sheryl lyric is: "Some people give up before it happens." Wiedersehen! Now where's the angel? This is going to sound lame, but If I could spend a week with her, I would want to spend a week in the recording studio with her, I would want to be an observer and that's it. I would want to watch her at work, producing, recording, writing, composing, working with her band, the works! Then at night I would want to be backstage at her concerts seeing how she prepares...then of course I have to have front row seats! I really want to see how she is at work! The Toronto Lilith goers got a little hint of that on the Saturday show, because they were having sound diffuculties and she said "talk among yourselves for a moment, while we straighten this out" and she was like talking all music lingo, everybody was blabbing away in the audience, and I was mesmerized. I chicks were out on stage and Sheryl was like" I want a little more banjo", then Emily would play...then she'd be telling them in music terms I don't know, to turn it up a little more, then she moved on the the guitars then fiddle, she was totally in charge, It was awesome, I felt like I was at a sound check! I was really neat seeing her move around the stage working everything out! So to get a week of that, with some concerts in between would be heaven for me. I normally don't dream about Sheryl, I have had about 2....I am not an avid dreamer. But anyways, I had a dream that I was flipping through the stations on TV, and I saw TDK video! But it was a weird video, very un-Sheryl like. It was very very colourful, very un-TDK! Think of This Kiss by Faith Hill, Sheryl was in an angel-type outfit, in blue, minus the halo (for those of you who own Dixie Chicks "FLy" it was like the blue outfit Natalie is wearing on the inside of the booklet), she had little wings and all. She was doing a kind of circus act, in circuses those people who hand from a rope and spin around and stuff, it's very graceful, and can be very beautiful, and it definately was, she was really good. Anyways, in the dream, I was so freaked out, knowing I was like the first person in the world to see this video, don't ask me why if it was on public tv! But the first thing I did was get on the net and tell you guys!!! How funny is that? In my dreams I think of the Crew?? lol, such loyalty! I wonder why a dreamt of such a weird video? It was very adorable, she looked so cute, a little short haired blue angel. How weird was that? Am I the only one with far out dreams like that? What an odd video choice for TDK! Hmmm, I gotta try and figure that one out, anyone wanna hazzard any guesses? good luck!! lol! It was really great, she played mostly new songs, aside from "Sleep To Dream" and "Criminal." Her new songs are a lot better with more aristic, unconvential lyrics. Well, the concert will repeat tonight at 1:30 AM EST if anyone's interested. You should really give her a try. I will admit that she is a little freaky when she isn't singing, and I really don't know what to think of her. She's so deep into her songs, and when she has to 'banter' she's very nervous and shy and totally contradicts herself. I sometimes wonder if it's an act, who knows? Her music is still great. And for something Sheryl-related: It would be great if Fiona opened for Sheryl on her next tour! lol ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Nov 1999 22:39:35 EST From: DParr122@aol.com Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] original IIMYH video Christina and crew: Sorry I'm a relative new comer to Sheryl, i got hooked this year, but if the sky background was the 1st iimyh, what did the did the released one look like.
