So all they did was take a couple tracks from their "Unreleased LP" bootlegs, and burn them onto the Trinity disc. Nice to know that bootlegger ethics still haven't changed much. Can you imagine if A&M were to take a track and throw it onto a perfectly fine CD that they were making, even though the new track had nothing to do with the rest of the CD? Oh. Nevermind. They did with TGS and "Sweet Child O' Mine". Maybe bootlegger ethics and legit label ethics aren't too far off from each other... :) Regards, F. Stevie Nicks (big surpirse there) covered it on the Boys on the Side sountrack, and Faith Hill covered it on her latest CD. On one of the VH1 background stories (I think Hard Rock Live), it mentioned that some other people had covered some of Sheryl's songs inlcuding Wynonna. Do any of you know which song it was and on what CD? I assume it was in the earlier years prior to TNMC. >Return-Path: >From: "Xena Grace" >To: >Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Sheryl and the Trinity Sessions >Date: Sun, 12 Sep 1999 14:58:50 -0500 >X-MSMail-Priority: Normal >X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2014.211 >Sender: owner-sheryl-crew@smoe.org > >: From: Dorothy A. It was covered by Wynonna on her album "Tell Me Why" (1993). My parents have the CD and I've listened to it a few times. It's funny, the first time we were listening to the album the song came on and I was like "I like this song." About two years later I found out it was Sheryl Crow. Anyway, it was written by Sheryl Crow & Jay Oliver(?), and it is copyrighted 1993, as opposed to 1992 when it would have came out on the unreleased album, hmmm. The song has sort of a southern feel to it, with a gospel background chorus and the Hammond B-3 organ that is on a lot of Sheryl songs (like HTMAS). The rest of the CD isn't bad either. >From: Tracy Newton >To: sheryl-crew@smoe.org >Subject: Re: [sheryl-crew] Sheryl and the Trinity Sessions >Date: Sun, 12 Sep 1999 16:31:13 -0400 On one of the VH1 background >stories (I think Hard Rock Live), it mentioned that some other people had >covered some of Sheryl's songs inlcuding Wynonna. It basically said the same old from the other reviews, eerie psychological thriller, Owen Wilson as a polite serial killer, etc. There was no mention of Sheryl in the article, though. Overall, they gave the movie a B. Just thought I'd let you guys know. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Sep 1999 19:30:35 -0400 From: "F. What you have found is a mistake on Wynonna's people' s part. The song is definitely called "Father Son" on the actual unreleased promo cassette (yes, I looked), which makes sense considering the content of the song. (Does "Won't you save me, Father Sun" make more sense than the religious connotations of "Won't you save me, Father Son"? Not in my mind). So Wynonna, or a typesetter at whatever label she is on made a boo boo. Also, even if the boo boo was caught before the record was released, the transparencies used to make cover art have to be done so far in advance that there is almost no way of stopping a mistake when it is finally noticed. That is why the Beatles, arguably the greatest rock & roll group of all time, have, according to EMI, a song on their BBC compilation called "Top So How Come (No One Loves Me)". The song is in reality (and on bootlegs) called "So How Come (Nobody Loves Me). I'll believe the name "Father Son" on A&M's only pressing of Sheryl's version of that track long before I'll believe the counterintuitive spelling "Father Sun" on someone else's CD. And, by the way, Sheryl's version of the song *is* copyright 1992. But Wynonna's is copyright 1993. Different performer, different date. Sheryl's was definitely on the unreleased LP, which was all copyrighted and ready to go out on Sept. 22, 1992 before it was axed from the schedule. Regards, F. She's also been smiling a lot lately.... Gotta love a seemingly happy Crow. I know that many of you on this list are scrambling around to find tickets..so my question is how do you feel about the scalpers? I've personally seen quite a few ads on ebay and other places offering them to the highest selller...one person even had a reserve price! But ..no one seemed to mention in the description that THEY WERE FREE!!!! This really disturbs me, because there are some Sheryl fans, who instead of thinking of their fellow fans want to make a quick buck instead...And you know this was a case of pure luck getting these tickets, not like you had to work hard to get these. I could blame American Express because certainly..that is one of the most idiotic ways to promote something like this..Would anyone have minded paying like $15 if it went to charity? But I guess it really disheartens me that people would stoop low enough to turn around and sell those tickets for the highest dollar to desperate fans, as if the proffesional scalpers aren't bad enough. I'm sure that many of you , because of scalpers were denied decent seats to see Sheryl perform (I myself always been in nosebleed seats). So I guess what I'm saying is that if any of you out there has a pair and can't go...just think about it..what if you were the one who didn't have the tickets? How would you feel knowing that most people got in for free and you had to pay for them? Think of your fellow crew members who have helped you out in finding out about this concert in the first place...Especially for a show with heavy american express advertising, which is essentially why it's free, so they can show off their new blue card.. I don't know maybe I'm the only one? Would you pay top dollar for Free tickets? ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V2 #315 *********************************
