Image Entertainment and A&M Records Sign Exclusive Worldwide DVD and Videocassette Agreement for the Live Concert Program, 'Sheryl Crow: the Globe Sessions Tour 1999' CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--July 26, 1999-- International Broadcast Television Rights Included in Deal Image Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq:DISK), a leading licensee and distributor of DVDs in North America, today announced the signing of an exclusive agreement with A&M Records for worldwide home video rights (DVD, laserdisc and VHS) to the live concert program, Sheryl Crow: The Globe Sessions Tour 1999. The agreement also grants Image exclusive international broadcast television rights. Sheryl Crow's self-produced third album, The Globe Sessions, was released in the fall of 1998. The album is a mix of the Delta Blues with a New Orleans flavor and Country influence. Continuing Crow's winning streak, the album went on to capture the award for Best Rock Album at the 39th Annual Grammy Awards. The live concert from The Globe Sessions tour, taped on May 8, 1999 in Detroit, will initially air in September on VH-1 in North America. Image Entertainment's home video release will be a longer version of that program featuring such hits as "If It Makes You Happy," "All I Wanna' Do," "Strong Enough," and "My Favorite Mistake." Mixed in both stereo and 5.1 multi-channel formats, the DVD will be released with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, DTS 5.1 audio and a discrete two-channel stereo mix, supervised by Crow herself. Martin W. Greenwald, Image's President and CEO, said, "The Sheryl Crow agreement represents the beginning of Image's strategy to produce and co-produce high-profile music video programming. These types of arrangements allow the Company to secure long-term rights in a wide variety of markets and platforms. "Sheryl's concert is clearly going to be an exciting addition to our roster of music programming. This agreement reinforces our intent and strategy to remain a leading supplier of music programming on DVD." I was at Lilith in Nashville last night. We were on the 4th row. It was great!!! Sheryl was the highlight of the show. I was lucky enough to get the setlist that a crew member threw me from the stage. It read like this: 1. Change 2. Mistake 3. Anything 4. Everyday (With Ash Sood on bongos) 5. It Don't Hurt 6. Happy 7. Difficult Kind (Sang with her sister Kathy) 8. Mississippi (She thanked Dillon) 9. Juanita (She sang with Emmy Lou Harris) 10. Neighborhood When Emmy Lou Harris came out to sing Juanita with Sheryl, I believe they said it was the first time that they had performed it since recording it in New York and few months ago. Since Emmy was there she sang Angel with Sarah. They sing that together on the Lilith CD. I was really hoping to hear Sheryl sing with her. Sheryl said that her parents were there last night. So I imagine after Sheryl's set she got together with her parents, because she never came back out on stage again. Not even for the final "Put A Little Love In Your Heart". Sheryl's parents were also at the concert in Nashville last March. And her sister Kathy sang with her then too. I guess it was the same sister. Her hair wasn't as curly and it was blondish colored this time. Does she have another sister? For some reason I thought her name was Karen or Carol. Sheryl wore a black shirt with see thru sleeves and I think black pants. She had on shoes for the first number, but then flipped them off, saying that she had borrowed them from her violinist and that they were too big. So she did the rest of the show barefooted. A beach ball was being hit around and when it went on stage Sheryl kicked it back to the audience. It was a nice kick. I was hoping to get one of Sheryl's guitar picks, but some tall guy beat me to it. They looked either navy or black. Not like the ones she used at her show at the Grand Ole Opry last March. I did get two of those. They were red heart shaped Gibson mediums with gold writing. On one side it had Sheryl's name. She went thru a lot of picks that night, but she didn't go thru much last night. I took a lot of pictures. I hope they come out. I hope I haven't said too much. I'm still excited!! Well, I THINK, could be wrong, that the only places that got the SCOM single for promos are The Wherehouse (or however you spell that place) and Sam Goody. Do you have any of those stores near you? It would have been nice if they had told you that though, assuming they knew it. Hey Crew, I was just watching VH1 during the 2 o'clock hour and they had an interview with Sheryl from the Lilith Fair in Atlanta this past weekend talking to her about the 100 Greatest Women coundtdown that they're doing. Anyway, at the end of the interview Sheryl introduced what she thinks is the next single that they're releasing from The Globe Sessions..."The Difficult Kind"!!! So they played the live version from the Eric Clapton and Friends special. Now it definitely makes sense why she keeps playing it live, and in the version she's been playing, she cuts out the last verse ("oh ballbreaking moon..."). Has anyone else noticed that? Just thought I'll let you all know! One has Plenty, I will not forget you (also available on the US Angel single), Sweet Surrender, and Possession. The other (which someone got at a Best Buy in IL.) has Mary, Ice, and Wait. So of > course, there were exclusive CD's left or any Mirrorball CD's. But then I > ordered it through CDNow and got to make my exclusive CD. I think there were 4 promo CDs for Mirrorball, so not to get too confused. :-) HMV (Canada) and the Coalition of Independent Music (U.S.) released a 4-track sampler. Best Buy did the limited-edition 2CD Mirrorball that included the bonus 3-song CD. Then there's the custom disc that you can make, with the info on the multimedia portion of Mirrorball. I think this was only good for the month of June, but it may have changed. Also, the Mary track that was released on the Best Buy bonus disc can also be found on No Boundaries, the Kosavar benefit CD. If you are looking to collect the songs that did not make the Mirrorball cut, then the Best Buy disc is the best since all 3 tracks are live and were recorded during the Surfacing tour (as were the 14 Mirrorball tracks). Nettwerk plans on spreading out the release of the rest of the songs that Sarah performed during the tour, so look for them on upcoming single, soundtracks, compilations, etc. - - Kristina (Sarah fanatic) _______________________________________________________________ Get your free e-mail / e-card account that helps save wildlife! http://www.care-mail.com ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V2 #262 *********************************
