So I only have a few things to add: 1. The View sucks. 2. "Fuck it, I can't cry anymore" - Sheryl 3. The View sucks. 4. Semisonic. Semi-sucked it. 5. The View sucks. 6. Hi Meredith!!!!!!!!!!!! :o) 7. The View.... sucks. 8. I didn't get Sheryl's autograph :*( But promised Phyllis that she'd get one, so I was still silly with happiness. "Miricles are hard work, most people give up before they happen.. yeah yeah yeah.." 9. 5/3/99 was the best I've ever see Sheryl. And after the show when we saw her outside, while everyone else was looking at her clothes, I was staring at that beautiful grin she has. Man, I'd kill to have teeth that straight. I'm a lil' loopy I guess :o) 10. The View sucks. Sorry our banner fell through. Every artist on the label except about 8 were cut. The label is still going to operate under the A&M name. Whether or not they will still be so friendly and helping of new and up and coming artists, and allow them artistic freedom, as they were with Sheryl remains to be seen. That's about all I know! Take care, Dave ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 May 1999 23:30:45 GMT From: "Meredith Sarah Anne" Subject: Re: Sheryl Crow and New York City (long) The last show at the Beacon was awesome! Phyllis & Michele summed it up nicely... (hi Phyllis & Michele!) I had such a good time... singing along & screaming - and I am NOT a screamer - LOL - but the show was so good that I screamed my lungs out. And I wanted to get up and dance but we were 2nd row balcony and I'm afraid of heights so I was afraid I'd fall off & die, and Sheryl would have to stop playing because of the mess, and no one would get to see the show, and everyone would hate me... so I just bounced around in my seat. My favorite songs of the night were "If It Makes You Happy" (I just love when she gets up there and yells "If it MAKES you happy" - it's so cool), "Leaving Las Vegas," "It Don't Hurt" (she used the line about doing crazy things when you break up - "like cutting your hair!" and people cheered, but not loud enough, so Sheryl said it louder, and then yelled it until the crowd reacted enough... lol) "Riverwide," "The Difficult Kind," "Mississippi" and well, everything else. Can't Cry Anymore was cool because I wasn't expecting her to do it... she didn't do "Hard to Make a Stand" which was kind of disappointing to me, but I've seen her do it before, so I wasn't too heartbroken. I agree with Phyllis that Lorenza was quite impressive on the violin. :-) The only thing I didn't like were the lights in "Am I Getting Through" - maybe it was just a problem in the balcony, but they would shine directly into our eyes & practically blind us - not fun because they distracted me from a very good song. And Semisonic... I wasn't really paying much attention because my 11-year-old sister was whining that they were too loud and she couldn't stand them... blah blah blah - I don't know why she insisted my parents get her a ticket - of course it's loud it's a CONCERT! Shows how much sense she has... One more thing that bugged me - practically no one in the balcony stood up at the end to clap. I stood up, despite my fear of heights, because I felt that Sheryl - and the band - deserved a standing ovation, but apparently not a lot of people in the balcony felt that way. *sigh* But I had a great time, and I hope I get to see Sheryl again w/ Lilith Fair. It was cool meeting Michele, Phyllis, & company... I didn't see Elaine & Keri but I hope you two had fun! Also, I bought a program... I finally have all the words to TGS on paper! Wow. Talk you to all later. - -Meredith >>>>>http://locket.net <<<<< Cup Riot On-line: "Cheers to the plastic cup!" Im used to jam bands I guess.. Ill start off w/Semisonic. Kirk was right when he stated that these are energetic young men.. they have that dorky charm similar to BNL, & u can tell that they are having fun performing - I enjoyed them thouroughly. I was so disappointed though. Like I said, Im used to jam bands who play different songs every night, so when Sheryl played almost exactly what she played last night, I was like BBLLLLLAAAAAAHHHHHH.. but I enjoyed it anyway. There was a minor difference tho.. youll see, I swear to god guys she actually reads these posts, b/c I almost had a coronary when she ever started talking about her friend Greg who says "its all good".. Maybe Thats Something A Change Would Do You Good Leaving Las Vegas (she pulled the "Boston" thing again tonight, & ended up tellin us "what a cheap trick") **here she started rambling about how she should move to Boston & hook up w/a man thats 10 years younger than her - so cute!** Anything But Down (now the group was pickin up momentum & started to have fun) My Favorite Mistake It Dont Hurt (explanation she gave for the song: "Its about how we do crazy thing when we break up with people.. like taking down pictures & moving furniture.. & cutting your hair!) Riverwide (not only was this performed beautifully, but she gave a beautiful explanation about the song as well - too long to type, but you gotta know it was great) Cant Cry Anymore (this song was a blast, it was so energetic!) If It Makes You Happy (the crowd was SOOOOOO into this, I think that everyone was singing except for that old lady sitting to the left of me.. at one point I thought she may have been sleeping..) Am I Getting Through, Parts I & II Everyday Is A Winding Road (yet again, it seemed like everybody was singing) The Difficult Kind Members Only (now I was screaming for this song whenever the oppurtunity arose, but I still think she sang it b/c she read Kirk's post.. b/c it was right before..) All I Wanna Do There Goes The Neighborhood Encore 1: Strong Enough (she sung this so beautifully it briught tears to my eyes) Mississippi (FINALLY! I could get up & dance, cuz everyone else was too) Encore 2 (w/ Semisonic of course): Drift Away (I thought this was SO cool) What Is Life (people were STILL singing) Anyway, yeah, like Kirk had mentioned, the age range that showed up there must have been from like 12 - 70! I am not kidding! Its so cool that her music speaks to people of all ages like that. Anyhoo, Ive said enough. Brooke, thanks for yr kind words the other day & have a gosh darn blast at your concert, as much as I did! still smilin, ~*Stephanie*~ ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V2 #132 *********************************
