What positions (highest of course) has Sheryl's songs got to in the UK singles chart? anyone even know? Apologies if it's already been posted. Maybe That's Something A Change Leaving Las Vegas (changed "Barstow" to Boston and then chided the audience with a "you fell for that old trick?" when they cheered) Anything But Down My Favorite Mistake It Don't Hurt River Wide If It Makes You Happy ("Marilyn's shampoo" has become "Marilyn's dildo") Am I Getting Through pt I Am I Getting Through pt 2 (twice as long as on the CD, just a 'DC al coda' though) Every Day is a Winding Road The Difficult Kind Home All I Wanna Do (personally I would swap this one for, maybe "Members Only") There Goes the Neighborhood (has anyone compared "doo doo doo Heartbreaker" by the Stones?) 1st encore: Strong Enough Mississippi (1st time I've seen a 12-string Telecaster) 2nd encore, w/Semisonic Drift Away What Is Life? (very cool selection) Somebody on this list wrote "Semisonic sucked". Open up your ears and your tiny little mind! Good songs, strong vocals. I've never seen a power trio that sang three-part vocals before. All three of them played a little keyboard at some point during the set: the drummer covers keys with one hand while drumming. I even liked "Closing Time", which I never much cared for on the radio (and I *still* think they were stepping on Tom Waits' toes with that title but that's my own problem). Okay, so here's what Sheryl Crow said when she brought them on stage at the end of the show: "This is Semisonic and if you don't own their records, you suck!" That's a pretty good reply to that earlier poster's "criticism". Quite a mixed crowd, with regard to age and the rest too. Good research opportunity for some musical anthropologist. kirk ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 May 1999 08:02:14 EDT From: Libraxx13@aol.com Subject: Re: UK Chart Positions---- I know them!!! hi, thes are the official chart positions for Sheryl since JULY 18TH hope this info comes in useful unfortunately i cant find any on the first 2 albums bye .TOM. I went to the show last night at the Orpheum in Boston. I know that I don't have to say how great she was but I will. Actually I can't find the words. I'm so inspired. It's like the crowd split(like the sea) from Sheryl to my seat. I'll be going again tonight. Hi, I just checked a huge rock n roll biography book and found out that ALL I WANNA DO was #2 in the UK. LEAVING LAS VEGAS was #66, and STRONG ENOUGH made #31 or something like that. I have to check it again and mail you tomorrow. I think it was quite surprising that the marvellous THE GLOBE SESSIONS disappeared very soon from UK TOP 10. It hit #2 first but then it fell very fast. Luckily it still went gold, but it would have deserved platinum status, like her previous albums. Here in Finland Sheryl´s not a very big stars like Tina Turner, Madonna or Eric Clapton. TGS made Top 20 if I remember right but it was only a few weeks in Top 40. Her songs are usually Top 20 or 30 hits on radio play lists and especially a radio station called KISS FM plays a lot of her music. But I like her music a lot and that´s all that matters. And I think its about time to add a few more to the collection. I have gotten alot of positive feedback on the CD's, so let's keep it going. I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say YOU CAN'T GET ENOUGH SHERYL! As we all know, live Sheryl is the only Sheryl so here are two more Sheryl CD's available NOW! SHERYL CROW -- Live at "Wembley Arena" (2/18/99) This show is from "The Globe Sessions" tour. This is a DIGITALLY recorded BBC broadcast. Superb quality. Her new songs like "Anything But Down", "Riverwide", and "There Goes The Neighborhood" sound better in concert than on the "Globe Sessions" CD. IMHO If you're wanting to hear some of the new stuff performed live, and don't want crappy audience recordings, here's your chance. Forget cassette, this is the digital age. Own this ON CD!!! Well, let's get to the good stuff, the MUSIC!!! SHERYL CROW -- Live at "Wembley Arena" (2/18/99) 1. My Favorite Mistake 2. A Change (Would Do You Good) 3. Anything But Down 4. Riverwide 5. If It Makes You Happy 6. Sweet Rosalyn 7. All I Wanna Do 8. There Goes The Neighborhood 9. Strong Enough 10.The Difficulst Kind 11.Everyday Is A Winding Road The second disc (available separately) is from 1996. This is a show she did in Atlanta, GA from the "Sheryl Crow" CD tour. This show was also broadcast on FM radio. This CD is from a radio station promo, so the quality is incredible. If you have ordered from me before, then you know the quality is there! This show also includes the rare track "The Weight" Sheryl Crow -- "Live in Atlanta, GA" (1996) 1. If It Makes You Happy 2. Hard To Make A Stand 3. Leaving Las Vegas 4. A Change (Would DO You Good) 5. Run Baby Run 6. Everyday Is A Winding Road 7. Sweet Rosalyn 8. Redemption Day 9. Hehe we have our own little horror stories including the damned view taping Monday. To make a long story short, Traffic was a bitch and we were about 30 minutes late. I had my cool Sheryl collage i had dragged along that I had for about 4 years now, and Michele and her BF had a bunch of Cds and her rolling Stone and I was wearing my Sheryl T-shirt, but they told us we were late and couldn't come in :( We were all really pissed and disappointed, and kind of mad because this group of like 5 40 year old chicks pushed to the front and got the tickets and we didn't. They didn't even know who Sheryl was!!! They were there for the "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT" about their lame new cohost. I heard the show was lame so that makes me feel a little better, but screw the view damn it! Because of them you all didn't get to see the crew banner that we made. So um yell at them for us :P So of course later that night we went to the Beacon for the final show. I bought alot of stuff I wasn't planning on, LOL. I got the black MFM t-shirt, keychain, poster, and the program (Did anyone notice that they made Sheryl's eyes brown on the shirt?) The show was soo damned cool :) Oh we also got to meet Meredith- Hi :) Well Semisonic was in a word, BAD. I also got my camera in but we were far back so I don't think they are goign to come out but it's worth a shot. The crowd wasn't in to them at all and i kept on wondering when Sheryl was gonna come out. He made some weird comments like "I noticed men and women are different" (Lol of course he heard it from the crowd). Let's just say I was NOT impressed. Sheryl of course more than made up for it. She started with Maybe That's Something followed by A Change Leaving Las Vegas (at the end she said "I think I'll pack up and move to New York-Oh wait I already live here :) Anything But Down My Favorite Mistake "This song is about being dumped. Anyone ever been dumped? I hear it sucks" :P It Don't Hurt-really awesome, especially seeing Sheryl jam on the harmonica and play guitar at the same time. River Wide If It Makes You Happy -Crowd was singing refrain and it was really cool Can't Cry Anymore- during one part she held a note for a very, very long time and blew the crowd away Am I Getting Through pt I Am I Getting Through pt 2 (sang it 3x and those high beams kicked ass :) Every Day is a Winding Road The Difficult Kind (awesome ) All I Wanna Do (crowd loved it but I couldn't get into it much, cause all the people who were sitting suddenly got up for it, and it was one of the lesser songs she played, kinda funny cause at the end she said all I wanna do is get laid, lol) There Goes the Neighboorhood- high beams again, cool perfromance Encore Strong Enough Crash N Burn (really moving) finished w/ Missisippi, and she had the crowd sing along it was fun :) And that's it for the setlist. Sheryl really seemed to be having alot of fun, lol showing off w/ her guitar at some points. The band was also great, especially Lorenza Ponce, I was really impressed with her playing. So we all went out to the side of the building and a rather large crowd was gathered there for about 45 mins to wait for Sheryl. She came out and signed my program for me and i said something really lame to her and she smiled . Poor Michele didn't get one because these bastards were pushing her and Sheryl didn't see her :( Sheryl had this really cool orange back pack that i kept staring at so i didn't really pay attention to what she was wearing LOL. Um i think it was a black suit jacket she was wearing over the tank top and black pants. I didn't really think she was really short, but i did think she was really small in general and she looked different in person. She was really sweet, and I was thrilled to get a chance to meet her however briefly. Haha i actually missed my flight home last night and had to wait until 9 this morning to get home and I was anxious to get back. NYC is great but it was time to come back home. If i ever spend another minute in JFK again that's too long :P "The only thing I did wrong is stay in New York City a day too long" Ok lame but it's true so :P ------------------------------ End of sheryl-crew-digest V2 #131 *********************************
