I sorta have my own win-something-from-the-radio-contest story. It was back in '97 and the radio station was giving tickets to Lilith Fair up in the Mid-west somewhere, forgot which state and I think Sheryl was playing this one show. Well, there were five questions you had to answer and there was one NO ONE knew the answer to, "She's calling Buddy on the Ouija board." Coincidence? Well, here I am, yelling and screaming at the radio in my mom's car cuz she was picking me up from school. She didn't have her cell phone with her and I'm like, "STEP ON IT MOM!" She's flying like a bat out hell so we can get home to try calling the radio. By the time we got home, there still wasn't one person giving the correct answer, but I couldn't get through! At my 12th try or something, "And we have ourselves a winner!" arrrrrrgH! I could have broken the phone! About Solidify...I really don't look into songs that much either. But from what she's singing, it sounds like she's talking to some guy and is like, "Why should I change just for you?" I dunno...we all have our own interpretations. TOM wrote: "1. Is there an Official Sheryl Crow Fan Club one can write to and get a postcard and some info and stuff? 2. What is'Lillith Fair', it sounds amazing, I live in the UK, does it come over here, or is it just in America?" Answer #1, look in your Sheryl Crow cd. There's an address in there I think. #2, Lilith Fair is a music festival, "celebration of women in music." Sorta like Lollapoloza (however you spell it!), Ozzfest and other festivals that often happen every summer in the US. Sad to say that Lilith will be on hold for a few years. So try to find a place to stand up and dance out of the way if you must." Michael Well Michael, I do agree we should be courteous, but how are we suppose to stand up and find somewhere to dance or maybe just shake our booties a little when we are stricken to these shoulder to shoulder seats we paid for? It's not like we can dance out in the aisle. If we step one foot out in the aisle security is there in a second flat to tell us to please return to our seats. So where can we go? Unless we are in the lawn at some outdoor venue, we really have no choice but to stand up to have a good time and shake our booties. "My objective on this record was to get under people's skin, because I was feeling like I had so much shit to hurl at the tape" Between a novelty hit and her luscious looks, it was easy to dismiss Sheryl Crow as pop tart after her debut - tasty, forgettable once she'd gone down your gullet and not good for you. This album changed that. She toughened up - sneering her way through "If it makes you happy", grounding a loopy song about angels with a Stones riff, casting a wry eye on hipster culture in "A change would do you good." She was knowing and nobullshit, but still vulnerable and sexy. As the title suggests, she had come into her own. _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? About the concert... I got my photo pass before going in and it was great...we were only allowed to shoot during the first three songs, but that was way cool. Sheryl did great; she performed each of her songs with precision and finesse. She really seemed at home during this show; the fans welcomed her back to MU as any parent would to a child. What can I say? The show rocked, especially when she came out for the first encore wearing an MU baseball jersey. The best songs of the concert, in my opinion, were There Goes the Neighborhood and All I Wanna Do. I got my ticket, her new Globe Sessions poster, a promo flat and a picture autographed.
