It's just that when I watch it, I keep comparing it to teh live performance I saw. I keep thinking, the instrumentation shoudl drag on for a bit here, or it shoudl speed up and get really loud here, stuff like that. It's got very little to do withteh fact that one is a live perf and another is on my little TV set.. I think it's just taht the video was from a concert in early 97 or late 96, and Sheryl had finetuned her performance quite substantially by the time I saw her in MAy 97. So I guess thats one of teh advantages of being one of the last to see her on tour. :) The disdvanatge of course, is that she may get jaded, that it may become routine... but I'm sure she'd spice it up somehow :) the concert I was at, she squated right behind one of the bouncers who was standing leaning against the front of teh stage (with his back to her), his arms folded, looking all grim. I had been telling him to get lost cos he'd stood right in front of me at the start, and hey, I'm 155 cm, and that effectively meant that all I would see is his chest. So I successfully got him to move back right against the stage so I had a good view of Sheryl and the band. Sheryl saw him leaning there looking all bored, so she came over behind him and just squated behind him like she was singing to him, but he didnt even notice, the loser. She had a kinda naughty look on her face, which I thought was rather cute. The guy realised that something was up cos everyone was like laughing, and kinda looking at him. SO he turned round oh-so-slightly, and SHeryl moved to teh other side quickly enough so that he did not see her. He turned the other side, and she quickly moved away again. The poor guy looked so uncomfortable! Well, thats what you get when you act bored at a Sheryl concert :)That was hilarious, and nice that it happened right in front of me :) But I cant rememeber whether she was singing through this episode, or whetehr it was during a lull. If she was singing, what song was it? Jeff, do u know? Does anyone else have any "Sheryl's antics on stage" stories? I'd love to hear them... Also, why dont American fans pressure Polygram to release the Live in London video in the US as well? It may work, considering how big she is, that there are no other releases available in the US and also, which I think is an important point since it is indicative of demand, that there are bootlegged videos circulating in the wake of the absence of any offical releases. harin PS- Jeff, do u also know if copies of the TNMC double CD are available anywhere now? Seriously, I don't have any idea, but the total lack of desire to tap the US market for all things Sheryl absolutely astonishes me. I mean, for most artists there are more foriegn singles, with extra tracks here and there, but dang! By my count, there have been about 70 tracks released commercially abroad, but not in the US. That's versus only (I think) 6 or so tracks released commercially in the US, but not overseas. And thats in only a little bit more than 5 years. A&M in America has made so much money for it's Polygram affiliates in Japan, Germany, Australia, and the UK by not issuing so much of her stuff. The difference between the number of US Sheryl releases and releases abroad is so great that it would be funny if it didn't empty my wallet so much. jason ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Mar 1999 14:33:28 +0800 From: Harinder_GREWAL@MCD.gov.sg Subject: Re: The Guess Game, part II Yup, unenthused performance - that's the word :) And not only does she look a little depressed, the whole atmosphere does not seem very lively, its a little too "dark" (not in the light vs dark sense :).
