Mary >> ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Mar 1999 11:48:06 -0000 From: "The mad one" Subject: Best Video If we are on to the subject of best Video My has to be either Home of IIMYH Home because if you study the vid it`s actually quite sad ( such as the image of the clown on it`s own clown and the old man oh and the women who just looks so unhappy the one who is smoking ,and I`m also convinced many of her family are in the video ? ) it also a brilliantly conceived video, for my G.C.S.E Expressive Arts the video was picked for the whole class to study which I might add made my life :) And IIMYH video I like this video as I like the way you can decide for you self what it means some people I know think it`s about Sheryl in the Spotlight while some others think it`s about not being able to do things you want to do, I just like it coz it`s cool with the Colour`s and I think Sheryl looks dead pretty . I wish I had a mother like you (musical taste wise)! My mom thinks I am so obsessed with Sheryl, I am but not with her, it's her music and when you like someone so much of course your going to like her too. She thinks it's sexual which I find appalling. We fight all the time about music, she wants it on her geeky "adult contemporary stations" and I want Sheryl on. She says Sheryl can't sing and she has no talent, she says the same thing about Liz Phair. THis is how I think regarding musical talent: I think someone like Celine Dion who has a gorgeous voice, has a gorgeous voice, that's it, she was born with that, she can't help it. Whereas someone like SHeryl who has worked her whole life, learned music (in University), she's a multi instumentalist, she writes all her own music, and her voice is getting better every day. I consider this a musician, it's the same with Liz Phair, someone like Celine is a phenomenon. All she is is a voice, she doesn't write, or play anything. So from my stand point Sheryl is a musician, Celine is not. Other examples are: Dylan vs Michael Bolton? Clapton vs Rod Stewart? Liz Phair vs Mariah Carey? Which are the "musicians" You choose. What does everyone think of my point of view?
