It certainly was a big Sheryl day on TV. Caught the Rosie show which was cool. Then spent the rest of the day flipping thru about 5 Grammy pre-show telecasts trying to catch Sheryl. The gum chewing was funny. She looked great. Now I've gotta catch Video Timeline & Fanatic. What a day!! Lori ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Feb 1999 04:03:47 -0500 From: g r r r l Subject: Grammys and Fanatic First of all, I'd like to say hello to you all who I've missed so much when the list had a breakdown for a while... you know who you are ;o) Well, I just gotta say, I think that Sheryl's performance at the Grammy's was *the* best that I've seen her on tv ever! Gad dang, she was just *on* baby! I hope she carries that with her on all her performances on tour this year, because I would love to get the chills from her again live and in person. (In case ya don't understand what I mean, I get the goose bumps whenever I hear a great singer belt out a spot on song... call me crazy). Sorry to see she only got 2 awards, well one for engineering, but every little bit helps :o) But I think the Grammy's are a crock anyhow. Think about it, I know you can think of at least one musician that you love who has never been nominated for a Grammy. Ah, I won't get into that. Fanatic. Call me bitter, call me whinny, but I couldn't watch it. If you ever wanna hear me bitch out the entire "I hate Mtv & Why" story, feel free to email me, but I have good reason, well at least I and everyone I've told thought so. I'm glad to know that someone who wasn't a jerk got to meet her. But I gotta tell ya, after hearing that Scout was curled up on his feet, I am quite a bit jealous :o) Aren't you? And perhaps to be a comfort to some, a person from the list was extremely close to getting on the show. But then again, Mtv never does anything right, so don't feel to bad. When's the last time they played a Sheryl video anyway? Also, if any one is interested, you'll see a major change in my Sheryl site very soon. I'd like to thank everyone from the list who contributed to the site, and ask if there is anyone else who would like to add to it while I'm renovating. Of course you can still add after the new stuff is added, but when the page is new, I think there is a better chance of people reading what is there. I'm looking for anything, concert/song/album reviews, opinions, fav quotes, personal stories (can be confidential!!) anything. And of course if you don't know what I'm talking about, visit the site at: http://welcome.to/SherylCrow~IShallBelieve . And thanks to my friend, whatshername, for dealing with me while we link sites. I dropped acid on a Wednesday night, just to see what the fuss was about... damned Grammys. Michele ps: not really ;o) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ "You dream it, and then you do it..." ~ words to live by, from Sheryl Crow http://welcome.to/SherylCrow~IShallBelieve ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Feb 1999 05:54:59 EST From: AngelLieb@aol.com Subject: Grammys and my OWN Fanatic First and foremost, I just have to point out that I really like this quote Michelle slipped at the end! << I dropped acid on a Wednesday night, just to see what the fuss was about... damned Grammys. >> OMG! She was soooooo amazing! It felt like a concert right in my bedroom! I most definitely can't wait to go to my concert! woo hoo! Now my responses on winning awards and such, I thought she could have at least win the rock vocal for TGTN as well, which I found myself cussing when I heard that Alanis won. Yeah, probably cuz she's not screaming or something, but still, Sheryl SHOULD have gotten that one! Her acceptance was really moving, she couldn't have said anything better. As far for everything else, winning awards isn't everything. After Lauryn Hill won the album of the year, my first thought was, "she cranked up the charts." Meaning she won more records than Sheryl did, which is probably one of the factors in determining who gets this prestigious award. (?) But still, Grammys shouldn't dominate how you judge an artist. The best thing an artist could ever win are a group of devoted fans, us. We're the ones that believe in her and admire her, what else could be better? Now for Fanatic, um, I was able to see a few clips about it. A guy huh? Oh well, I still see myself seeing Sheryl before/after my concert since I know the venue a little bit. There are so many things I'd like to say to Sheryl, but meeting her is the first thing I have to accomplish! Have fun if you're going to see her in future concerts and good luck if you're trying to meet her! Sheryl win always remain in my heart, no matter how many Grammys are sitting on her shelf, collecting dust. In watching some recent stuff I noticed her "Anything But Down" video...I searched the web to the best of my ability but I found NOTHING from it -- all I found was a site that had mailing lists -- and I figured what better way to talk to MANY fans but here... I would like as many scans from the video as I can get -- and even if you don't have pictures and only have Quicktime of it, Real Video of it...ANYTHING from that video...could you PLEASE direct them towards me? I am getting ready to do something with my hair and would really like to use that style in there as a springboard...hehe...this whole letter for HAIR, you ask? Yeah, I'm a dork. I have a favour to ask (another one?!! Yeah, unfortunately:) Sorry...) I'm on another mailing list, and it's no secret that I'm a Sheryl fan :)) So occasionally I get requests for good Sheryl links, cos they're a lot of fans and other interested pple on that list (we did a mini-poll recently, and Sheryl was third fave, jointly with Alanis Morissette). Anyway, the prob is I dont know what the good links are cos I dont surf the web much. So if you do know some good links, can you send me the URLs please? I'll compile them and keep them handy for future requests.... Thanks, and sorry for the multiple posts.... harin ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Feb 1999 12:26:15 +0800 From: Harinder_GREWAL@MCD.gov.sg Subject: Re: Grammy pic I would like it pls, Dee :) Thanks! y'know, I was at work while the live telecast of the Grammys was on, so I recorded it. I also recorded the repeat telecast later that evening. I dont know why, but the original telecast was not as good. The instrumentation during Sheryl's perf was so overwhelming that it sounded like she was shouting really loud but still could not be heard to well. But the repeat was cool. :) I know someone on the Celine Dion list, and apparently, people there were rather impressed with Sheryl's perf too. How could they not be, eh? :)) I also saw Letterman last night (we get it 3 days later). Brilliant!!! Loved the couch time. She's so natural and laid-back on TV , y'know, unlike so many other artistes. Also, since the topic has been broached, I just wanna add that although awards as such may not be an indicator of anything, I still feel good when the music I like gets the recognition I feel it deserves. But that doesnt mean I thiunk any less of those who do not get nominated or who do not win. Like many of you, I know of good artistes I feel shoudl ahve been nominated but did not. But that's only half the point. That is an inherent weakness of the system. The good point is that some good music does get recognised, like it did yesterday with Sheryl and some others, and it allows music fans around the world to be introduced to new music. For example, countyr is not at all big where I live. I first heard Wide Open Spaces on the AMA. I thought it was bril (love the fiddle, etc). Then I heard on the radio another song by the Dixie Chicks. I didnt know it was by them, but loved the lyrics (the story line is somewhat like how dare you (reference to another woman) steal my man, we were togetehr for like so long , b lah, blah, hope you'll know which one I'm referring to, I've only heard it the one time, so I'm not sure of the title. Boy, the lyrics sure sound lame when I type then out like this :))). Anyway, I think the lead singer has a pretty good voice. When the DJ said it was the Dixie Chicks, I thought to myself, well, two good songs. I wish they'd performed again yesterday. I'll definitely be checking the album out soon, to see how I like the rest of it. All because of the AMA (which were otherwise probably the worst awards ceremony I have ever watched in my life). I was a kid when Alabama was winning AMA's. And they're still winning.... No offence, ALabama fans, but whats with that? They're not that good anyway. Wow, that was long. Sorry, I got carried away. I just needed to add some Sheryl list content since I cannot e-mail Dee privately! :))) Hope I didnt bore you, and I'll get back to work now :) harin Judith - did you manage to find out whether Sheryl's perf on the Simon Mayo show is gonna be repeated? owner-sheryl-crew@smoe.org on 26/02/99 10:51:17 Please respond to sheryl-crew@smoe.org @ SMTP To: sheryl-crew@smoe.org @ SMTP cc: Subject: Grammy pic Hi Crew, There's a cool pic of Sheryl in her outfit (dress) on the E!
