Cool to be back.... theres one thing i notice about the UK chart... When i go in to record shops (i went into one on wednesday and lookes for the ABD single) I can never find Sheryls singles, even tho that weekend her song is at some position in the official charts (I think shes at 23). The same happened for There Goes a Neighbourhood when it was released. First thibng i saw of it was when i was berowsing the sheryl crow selection in a big music store and I never saw it on ethe singles rack. *shrugs* Its a shame sheryl didnt win at the Brits, but an even worse shame that her only appearance to was award that idiot robbie williams. He gets on my nerves so much *growls* I went to the wembley gig on Thursday and it was great.. it was a bit slow at first the atmosphere was pretty *thinks* unenthused, but my the middle of the performance everyone in the next block from me was up singing to i did the same. My friends, who is not a big sheryl fan, thought the coolest thing was her 'tori amos-like' performance of home on the classical piano with only a chello and violin accompanyment.... but i loved 'It Dont Hurt' because of the rock bit at the end, 'If it makes you happy', Mississippi and Everyday is a Winding Road...... everyone in the crowd was singing everyday is a winding road and it was such a good atmosphere. I think the run was exactly like her other european gigs, but the nights too much of a daze to remember. sam xxxxxxxxx ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 17:50:40 +0800 From: Harinder_GREWAL@MCD.gov.sg Subject: Re: ABD video OK, I think I really need someone to make me copies of all this really cool stuff - the ABD video, the 95 grammy perf, all teh old videos - Imagine, I've NEVER seen RBR! Lori ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 05:58:50 PST From: 1hopi@excite.com Subject: TGTN vid in the US For us Americans who haven't seen the TGTN video, they are showing like 6 second clips of it on VH1 in one of their thousands of Women Rockers Are Great/Grammys Belong to Women This Year shows. Some people have briefly described the video but a couple thoughts to add is that the image warps, it stretches and is pulled and the room Sheryl is in with the car in the background is very small, fish-eyed kinda, and claustrophobic, and AGAIN sheryl looks like she's being thrown around and swirling in chaos. After falling down in MFM, and ABD and now being blown all over in TGTN too I hope Sheryl's next video brings her a little peace. As an aside I stood in line to get tickets to Sheryl's MPLS show for April 20 and lo and behold I got front row tickets. I've never had front row tickets to anything so....needless to say I'm pretty stunned and amazed and excited. This means Sheryl might look right at me! Wow! As another aside, now that us US'ers can see parts of the RUnb Baby Run vid on the VH1 timeline I wonder what it is about video-makers in Sheryl's erarly carrer who liked to shoot Sheryl so very close-up and almost blurry as if trying to hid the fact she was super fat or ugly, even though she's not. The All I wanna do video and the RBR vid have usch extreme close-ups of Sheryl you can barely tell who she is at some points. Some more tour dates were added for the U.S. (Pollstar has them, I think Lisa's page does too), and the Vh1 timeline was on (didn't even know about that :( ) So as you can see, I need this list to keep up to date as to what's going on....;) P.S. Ohki....I just happened to go to my local Borders today and what did I find? A Sheryl interview in a magazine! It's something with Billboard's Publication and is called Musician. The weird thing about this is it's dated April 1999 and this is still February! Anyways, I was able to spot this magazine cuz there's a small picture of Sheryl in the upper left hand corner. It's worth the money! Eight pages! Anyhoo, the one thing I found interesting in this interview is Sheryl talked about writing the musical score for a small independent film. Anyone have any more info about this? Also, she talks about doing more musical scores for movies in the future. What does everyone think about that? Thanks to Judith & Alice for the Wembley reviews. The set list sounds great as she played most of my faves, however, she didn't play that many songs. It's a pretty good movie... it's slow in the beginning and picks up toward the middle... a really sad movie as well. Anyhow, I kept waiting for Sheryl's song, "Carolina" to play. Finally, at the end, when they rolled the credits, the song came on and played in it's entirety :-) When I got home, I listened to the song again and couldn't believe how similar it is to the plot of the film. Does anyone know if Sheryl recorded this specifically for the movie? I've always loved that song and was curious as to it's "birth." Also, I seen a VH1 thing promoting the film and Robin mentioned that she was glad that Sheryl had a song on the soundtrack and that she has always enjoyed her music. She also said that Sheryl Crow reminded her of home on a farm.... meaning something natural and pure. :-) Dee ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 22:06:32 EST From: Htran03@aol.com Subject: Sheryl Chances At The Grammies I think Sheryl Crow has a chance to win Best Rock Album and Best Female Rock Performance and maybe Album Of The Year but that catogory is really competitive with Lauryn Hill, Shania Twain, and Madonna.
