Playing-wise I think they are the best line up since the eighties though he in particular does like throwing poses. And why not, he probably gets bored having been playing the same 18 songs for the last five years. And the days are gone when every member of the band had a good haircut. He's also played with simple minds. Just had a look at a simple minds site (http://www.simpleminds.org/sm/tree/index.htm) and theres a family tree which lists about 40 different lineups. which seems a bit excessive by anyones standards. Thought the roundhouse gig was a mixed bag really. first four songs stormed it, then, ironically, stormy weather seemed to unstorm it and it went a bit average from there picking up towards the end - which all seems to coincide with sergeant being allowed to turn his guitar up. Cant stand roadhouse blues. And when mac sings 'open your legs' in killing moon he sounds like a nob. In fact all the stuff they did off ocean rain did sound a bit weak. maybe because last time they did have the strings etc. Backdrops were good - especially the giant fish and the wobbling camera through the trees during rescue and the vast amounts of dry ice. And dont ask me why they do a tour to promote a record and then hardly play any but its par for the course isn't it? MAc has done the usual round of imterviews saying its the best album since [guess which and insert here] and then as usual they ignore it, playing a bunch iof 25- 30 year old songs instead. But on this evidence they are the better songs. Mind you sergeants not even credited as writer on a few of the tracks, mac has sole author status on a coupl and those other blokes who write for busted et al are in there on the rest. KISS make a ton of money off live gigs, so what if it's Eric Singer as Catman & Tommy Thayler as Space Ace (or at least to Gene's line of reasoning anyway) altho' they did just release Sonic Boom (gee 1 new album in 11 years) but when you go to 1 of their gigs will get the greatest hits setlist (and I hate Deuce as it's been done to death, actually it died in the 70s). Other than Bigger Bang when was the last time the Stones released a really good album? Yet they can charge $300 & up per concert ticket so we can all hear Satisfaction again... Now take a page out of Depeche Mode's book as they tend to play 6 or 7 songs off their current album at concerts along with hits of course. Alright I put up with Just Can't Get Enough but at least they dropped it for a few years until resurecting it for the greatest hits tour. Enough ranting, I'll go fire up the smoke machine now so no-one can see me! Best to all. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **************Bunnymen Online Presence******************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ http://www.villiersterrace.com/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stevedoughty/index.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Oct 2009 12:15:35 -0500 From: "Easley, Dennis" Subject: RE: seven-seas Roundhouse Gig It's worth noting as well, that I'm pretty sure that all the acts you just called out play sets somewhere in the 2-3 hour range. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-seven-seas@smoe.org [mailto:owner-seven-seas@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Sheldon Cooper Sent: Monday, October 19, 2009 12:51 PM To: seven-seas@smoe.org Subject: RE: seven-seas Roundhouse Gig Ah the joys of being a "touring" band.
