On reflection, I mis-interpretted the review..."Will came on and played soem of those bunnymen sounds"...stupid me. Sounds like an ace night though. ==================================== What an evening back home on Friday night. The legendary Wild Swans reformed to play a couple of cathartic shows in the wonderful setting of the static gallery. Fell in love with the support act inside 3 minutes - a scottish celtic harpist cum story teller called Rebecca Sharp - her voice alone made me want to run off with her. Amazing. Will Seargeant on the laptop playing the tunes - mostly 1940's blighty rock - long story.... On stage - founder Teardrop & Liverpool legend Simpson smiled and soared his way through the set - with Les Pattinson - Bunny Bass player - looking alarmingly like Terry from Brookside behind him. Henry Priestman on keys, mike 'copey/drummond' making his strat sing - magic. Ian McNabb cheerleading from off stage & then Will came on and played soem of those bunnymen sounds next to Les for the encore - Happy days! The Revolutionary Spirit remains one of the most wonderful songs ever written. Liverpol truly shimmered for me on Friday eve. Just ace. ==================================== - -- Barry Whiting barry.whiting@gmail.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **************Bunnymen Online Presence******************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ http://www.villiersterrace.com/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stevedoughty/index.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Jul 2009 18:20:27 +0000 (UTC) From: Red Subject: Re: seven-seas Wild Swans I was there both nights!! :-) AllB I can say isB -- the shows were simply beautiful and AMAZING! The atmosphere inside the Static Gallery took you back in time, with the 20p jumble sale and all the union jack bunting hanging from the rafters! Paul's little son was dressed in Edwardian clothing passing out Red Vines andB Rainbow Dust to the crowd, while Will spun tunes from the 30s and 40s (if i had to guess). During the show Paul asked audience members to partake in the Sherbert Communion! LOL just great fun all evening. I myself dressed in 30s attire one night, and 20s the other, and that made it even more fun! (Paul had asked fans on his myspace to dress up, and I'm always up for that type of stuff!) It was a lot of fun!B How often can you actually go out wearing pearls, gloves and a hat to a rock gig? :-D The support act was a Scottish girl, Rebecca Sharp, who played the harp, which was a nice touch. The band soundedB really tight...you'd never know they had only been rehearsing a few weeks! Les looked amazingly well and happy! Before the first show he told meB he hadn't picked up a bass in 11 years, but you'd never have known that!! You could tell he was enjoying himself onstage, he had a smile on his face half the night! And to have Will join them for the encores (both nights!!) was just awesome! Everyone on stage was just really into it - having the best time.B After the 2nd show Les'B wife said it was so good to see him playing his bass. Paul was amazingly stunning on stage too! I got Les' setlist after the 2nd show! wooohooo! :-D (lucky for me it was the last one there when i asked!) hehee Bible Dreams Archangels Immaculate Liquid Mercury Now and Forever No Bleeding Northern England Coldest Winter in 100 Years God Forbid English Electric Lightning Revolutionary Spirit - --encore-- Melting Blue Delicious Bringing Home The Ashes Tangerine Temple Lots of celebrities in attendance too...can't remember everyone, but to name a few -- Pete Wylie, Jayne Casey, Ian McNabb, Candie Payne, Yorkie, and I saw Lorraine and Candy McCulloch on the 2nd night! B Will played tunesB after the shows too. Themed to suit the setting for a while, and then later breaking off into his usual groovy psychedelic stuff.B Everyone was having a really good time. It was good to see some of my longtime bunny fan friends there too. Really happy I made the trip! It was really special! :-) Red ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **************Bunnymen Online Presence******************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ http://www.villiersterrace.com/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stevedoughty/index.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Jul 2009 10:21:43 -0700 From: "Paige K. Parsons" Subject: seven-seas Twitter + The Wild Swans = pix of Les + Will Come on ! Join us in communicating in the current century! Honestly, ninety percent of people using twitter don't post themselves, they just follow folks who do, like Echo & The Bunnymen (@OfficialEATB) http://twitter.com/OfficialEATB Whoever is tweeting on the band's behalf is great about posting live pix, like Will + Les plating together at The Wild Swans show, Will backstage @ Glastonbury. I've been trying to get my photo contest prize from Radio City Music Hall for nine months now, and finally had some luck by tweeting with the band directly. I find that many bands are easy to contact and get a response via their twitter account. Last night I had a nice little exchange with Eryka Badu about what's in her magic potion bottle and getting credit for my pic that she uses as her twitter avatar. Oh, and if you're on facebook and worried about the extra time, you can use nice little app that will post all your twitter updates to your Fackebook status. - - Paige twitter: http://www.twitter.com/paigekparsons ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ **************Bunnymen Online Presence******************** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.bunnymenlist.com * http://www.bunnymen.info http://www.bunnymen.com * http://www.fotolog.net/sgtfuzz/ http://www.villiersterrace.com/ * http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/discog/ http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stevedoughty/index.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * ------------------------------ End of seven-seas-digest V7 #119 ********************************
